The Syriac Orthodox Church was established in Sweden in the 1970’s due to migration from Turkey, Lebanon, and Syria. The church is the largest Christian orthodox faith community in Sweden with 48 congregations and over 40000 members. This publication describes how the Syriac Orthodox Church was established in Sweden and what the religious life of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Sweden looks like today. The book is based on the results of the research project Integration and Tradition: The Making of the Syriac Orthodox Church in Sweden that run in the years 2018-2021. The main research question behind the study is how tradition are negotiated, changed, and upheld in relation to processes of integration.
