Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study aims to shed light on how high school students with neuropsychiatric disabilities (NPF), specifically ADHD and/or autism, experience schooling from an insider perspective. This is done by shedding light on how students perceive the school's treatment, the physical and social school environment, and the school's existing support as well as its lack thereof. Through a qualitative method, the students' own voices have been highlighted to provide a deeper understanding of their needs, challenges and experiences of support. The results of the study show that adaptations, understanding and knowledge among school staff and an accessible learning environment are of crucial importance for the students' well-being as well as academic success. At the same time, deficiencies in knowledge and treatment of these students emerge, which risks making an inclusive school environment more difficult and negatively affecting their school results. The study thus underlines the importance of an individually adapted working method and sufficient resources to create an accessible and inclusive school for all students.
