Den samiska representationen på svenska bibliotek har utvecklats de senaste åren. Samtidigt saknas kritiska blickar från forskningens håll gällande relationen mellan bibliotek och samer. Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka och jämföra den samiska representationen inom tre klassifikationssystem: Sveriges allmänna biblioteksförenings- (SAB), Dewey decimals- (DDK) och Løøvs klassifikationssystem. Detta för att kunna förstå hur representationen av de samiska ämnena ser ut på både svenska folkbibliotek och i den samiska bibliografin. Undersökningen av de tre klassifikationssystemen har genomförts via en kvalitativ dokumentstudie med ett kodningsschema som analysmetod, vilket slutligen mynnar ut i en dekonstruktion av systemens hantering av samiska ämnen. Resultatet tematiserades utifrån kodningsschemat: samer och andra folkgrupper; traditionell samisk kultur och näringar; samer och religion; samiska språk och slutligen samer i hierarkierna. Analysen av resultatet utgår från Jacques Derridas dekonstruktionsteori för att kunna identifiera klassifikationssystemens centrum, och sedan centrera de ämnen som är perifera och marginaliserade i nuläget i enlighet med klassifikationssystemens struktur. Uppsatsens slutsatser visar att varje system centrerar olika perspektiv, där enbart Løøvs centrerar det samiska. Detta leder till en bild där de två universella klassifikationssystemen SAB och DDK har större utvecklingspotential för den samiska representationen på grund av en viss oförståelse för samiska omständigheter. Även Løøvs system kan dock utgå från ett samiskt perspektiv i större utsträckning. De tre klassifikationssystemen har separata utgångspunkter, och därför tre olika sätt att i högre grad inkludera samiska perspektiv och samiska ämnen. 

The Sámi representation in Swedish libraries has evolved the last few years. Simultaneously there is a lack of critical view from a scientific perspective regarding the relationship between libraries and Sámi people. The purpose of this thesis is to examine and compare the Sámi representation in three classification systems: the Swedish library classification system (SAB), the Dewey decimal system (DDC) and Løøv’s classification system. This is to further understand and compare what the representation of Sámi subjects looks like both in Swedish public libraries and in the Sámi bibliography. The examination of the three classification systems has been completed through a qualitative document study with a coding scheme as the basis for the analysis, which at last results in a deconstruction of the systems’ management of Sámi subjects. The results were thematically organized according to the coding scheme: Sámi and other ethnic groups; traditional Sámi culture and industries; Sámi and religion; Sámi languages and Sámi in the hierarchies. Analyzing this result was done through Jacques Derrida’s deconstructive theory to identify the centers of the classification systems and then center the current peripheral subjects according to the classification systems’ original structure. The conclusions of the thesis show that each system centers different perspectives, where only Løøv’s centers the Sámi one. This leads to a picture where the two universal classification systems SAB and DDC have a larger potential of evolution for the Sámi representation because of the lack of understanding of Sámi circumstances. Even Løøvs system can assume a Sámi perspective in a greater scope. The three classification systems have separate starting points, and therefore three different approaches to including Sámi perspectives and subjects to a higher degree.
