Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This study aims to investigate how individuals with an ADHD diagnosis experience the treatment and availability of support in the meeting with social services. The study was conducted through four semi-structured interviews with adults with an ADHD diagnosis. The method used in the study is qualitative method in the form of interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). Analysis of results has been done based on the study's theoretical framework, which consists Goffman's Stigma, Becker's Labeling Theory, Ableism and Internalized Ableism and Fricker's Epistemic Injustice. The results of the study show how individuals with an ADHD diagnosis experience a negative treatment in the meeting with the social services, characterized by ignorance and a stereotypical image of how ADHD is expressed. In addition, there is an unprofessional approach in the form of a lack of adaptation to the individual's needs.
