Abstract [en]

During the Covid-19 pandemic, many people were confined to their homes, which has led to a change in the work environment and an increase in remote work. This study has therefore investigated how the responsibility for the work environment reaches the home, how it is maintained, and explored how remote work is experienced by employees, with a focus on ergonomics and psychosocial aspects. To be able to answer the purpose, a qualitative research approach has been applied. The research strategy is based on a case study with a focus on a company in the telecommunications industry. Through semi-structured interviews, ten respondents have been interviewed, four employers and six employees. In addition to the interviews, the authors have searched for data in the form of existing literature and previous studies in order to analyze the results in combination with the interviews. The results of the study show that the employer takes responsibility for the work environment by clearly communicating guidelines for remote work and with continuous check-ins on the employees' health and well-being. The results also show that employees had mixed feelings about remote work, but overall, it is a good environment to focus in. The disadvantages that came up were increased distance and loneliness, as well as not everyone having the ability to create an ergonomic home office. Conclusions show that employers take responsibility according to the law, but difficulties arise in not being able to have full control over the home environment. This means that communication between employers and employees is of great importance in achieving a good work environment.
