Abstract [en]

This essay examines two Swedish legal cases related to Nazism, with the aim to investigate if there are influences of Satanism and The Sinister Tradition from groups such as, The Order of Nine Angles and Atomwaffe Division. Currently, various media reports that young people are drawn into online groups connected to Nazism and Satanism. The purpose of this study is to investigate whether this has developed in Sweden and to what extent. The method used i this study is qualitative analysis of ideas and ideological content, as well as visual analysis of the language of images and semiotics. I have used several theories, including understanding solitary perpetrators, ritual and power, and analysis of propaganda image, to gain the best possible insight into the theme. The symbols present in the empirical material, along with what emerges through investigation and interrogation, indicate influences of this. The analysis reveals interesting aspects of how influences from Nazi German occultism persist, and how Satanism and The Sinister Tradition have been adopted and influenced one of the legal cases being studied.
