This paper attempts to replicate a study from 2009 about users reading habits and the future of e‐books. Due to the increased use of smartphones and tablets since 2009, there is a reason to reasearch if the perception and use of e‐books has changed. The methods used is qualitative interviews complemented with an online questionnaire. The result is analyzed according to Rogers (2003) theory Diffusion of Innovations and the 5 factors that influence the adoption of an innovation. The result show similarities with the replicated paper, but also significant differences. The previous knowledge is not an issue for e‐book reading today, rather than the lack of the same reading experience as the paper books. The paper argues that reading e‐books on e‐book readers rather than on mobile phones, as the majority of the respondents, could make the experience be more positive and closer to the experience of reading paper books. As a conclusion this could be a first step toward an adoption of e‐books, and also a possibly issue for further research.
