    Abstract [en]

    This paper uses secondary data analysis and a literature review to explore a “Swedish Dilemma”: Can Sweden continue to provide a high level of comprehensive health services for all regardless of ability to pay — a policy emphasizing “solidarity” — or must it decide to impose increasing constraints on health services spending and service delivery — a policy emphasizing “cost containment?” It examines recent policies and longer term trends including: changes in health personnel and facilities; integration of health and social services for older persons; introduction of competition among providers; cost sharing for patients; dismantling of dental insurance; decentralization of government responsibility; priority settings for treatment; and encouragement of the private sector. It is apparent that the Swedes have had considerable success in attaining cost containment — not primarily through “market mechanisms” but through government budget controls and service reduction. Further, it appears that equal access to care, or solidarity, may be adversely affected by some of the system changes.

    Abstract [en]

    This study aims to explore and highlight alternative relationships in relation to the norm of monogamy. The perspective we have had with this study, is of a qualitative and investigative character. We have deeply interviewed four participants who are, or have been, in a polyamorous relationship. We have studied how the respondents see and handle their choices of life. We also wanted to know what kind of reactions they have faced from society. Another issue we have studied deeper is how the participants define jealousy and infidelity. We have anchored the discussion in different relation- and family-related theories to understand and problematize the norm of monogamy. What we come to understand is that the participants found different ways, to satisfy their desires and to fulfill their romantic needs. There have been differences in their desires and needs met in the relationship and we wanted to study how their delimitations seems to vary. Two of our participants have embraced both their romantic and lustful feelings for others and has had a very liberal approach to relationships. The other two participants has only accepted sexual contacts with other people, no feelings involved, and they needed to have an arrangement about this with their partner. Our participants have not experienced any major reactions from the society. However, we have been able to see that they have used various strategies to avoid stigmatization. We could also see that jealousy is often associated with a feeling of ownership.

    Abstract [en]

    This thesis investigates the importance of higher education for women of Babati, Tanzania. The research has been carried out by focusing three research questions; What does an education at the Open University of Tanzania (OUT) mean for the female students on a personal level? What is the female students’ perception on the importance of women’s higher education for development? How can the female students’ perceptions on the importance of women’s higher education be analyzed within the context of the term women empowerment?

    In order to answer these questions semi-structured interviews were conducted in Babati town, Tanzania in February 2012 with female students and graduates of the Open University of Tanzania. Out of these interviews is concluded that higher education has significant personal effects for the women interviewed such as increased happiness, independence and self-esteem, which in turn have effects on development. Also it can be shown that the definition of the term women empowerment is disputed and thereby insufficient as a mean for development.

    Under de senaste åren har betydelsen av aktiemarknaden i det närmsta fått en helt ny innebörd, speciellt i Sverige där ofantligt många privatpersoner är aktiesparare, antingen indirekt bland annat genom pensionssparande i fonder som placerar enorma summor pengar eller direkt genom personliga investeringar i specifika delägarrätter. Analytikerns roll är inte längre enbart ett privatekonomiskt intresse, utan har nu övergått till att bli en mer samhällsekonomisk angelägenhet. Dessa analytiker baserar sina rekommendationer på olika värderingar som görs utifrån teoretiska analysverktyg, frågan är hur pass träffsäkra dessa verktyg verkligen är.

    Denna studie undersöker denna träffsäkerhet genom att pröva några av de av analytikerna mest vedertagna värderingsmodellerna under en högkonjunktur och en lågkonjunktur. Då dessa två extrema ekonomiska lägen är de som enligt oss borde generera störst avvikelser från de faktiska börskurserna i förhållande till de teoretiskt motiverade kurserna, har även ett år som är att betrakta som ett konjunkturellt mellanläge inkluderats.

    Resultatet som erhållits har visat att det inte finns någon enskild teori som med någon större form av säkerhet kan precisera ett korrekt värde av en aktie. Vissa modeller har dock över de olika konjunkturerna konsekvent genererat riktkurser som sammanfaller mer med rådande börskurser än andra. Den ultimata slutsatsen av denna studie är att oberoende av vilken konjunktur ekonomin befinner sig i erhålls ett bättre resultat beroende på hur mycket information som inkluderas i analysen. Det vill säga att ju fler analyser som genomförs och ju fler modeller som används, desto mer kommer den framräknade riktkursen att sammanfalla med rådande börskurs; ett bevis för att dessa modeller faktiskt implementeras på en större skala på aktiemarknaden. Huruvida det går att tjäna pengar på analyserna eller inte beror på två individers sunda förnuft gällande de antaganden som görs och tolkande av denna information: analytikerns och placerarens.

    Milk With Soda: A Minor Field Study on the Chemical Companies’ and Distributors’ Role in the Usage of Pesticides in the Rice Cultivation, Tarapoto, Peru2006Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Magister), 10 points / 15 hpStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

    There are great problems of pesticide poisonings in the rural parts of the developing countries. Although these countries only use 25 percent of the world’s pesticide production they suffer from 99 percent of the deaths due to pesticide poisoning.

    The study took place in Tarapoto, Peru, where immense quantities of pesticides are used in their extensive cultivations of rice. The highly toxic pesticides are applied with backpack sprayers without using any safeguard.

    The objective of the study is to find out if the unsafe use of pesticides in Tarapoto is a result of insufficient information from the chemical companies and the distributors. It is also to study what effect the distributors’ relationship marketing has on the usage of pesticides. The purpose of the study is to help the farmers to get a deeper understanding about the problem by explaining the situation to them.

    Four theories have been used as analytical tools in the study; corporate social responsibility, relationship marketing, buyer’s value chain and costumer value, and salespeople and their ethical behavior. The guidelines for personal protection and good labeling from the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations have also been used as a basis for the empirical study.

    A triangulation of data was use during the empirical studies and three types of respondents were interviewed; farmers, vendors and organizations and authorities. Participating observations were also made both in the field and in the stores.

    The results of the empirical studies show that the main reason of the unsafe use of pesticides is not lack of information or unawareness. The etiquettes have to be approved by the Agrarian Health Department and all the interviewed farmers were literate and could therefore read the given information. All the interviewed farmers were also aware of how they really should manage the pesticides.

    The primary source of information is however the vendors. They have a close relation to the farmers due their selling strategies of relationship marketing. The vendors recommend what pesticides the farmers should use, and how and when to use them. There is though a problem in the information from the vendors. The most recommended products are extremely or highly toxic and they are restricted; they are not allowed to use in rice. They also recommend the farmers to drink milk to avoid intoxication, which the etiquettes warn against. Regular safety instructions were only given by 50 percent of the interviewed vendors.

    Surebets - En riskfri investering?: En studie om riskbeteende och arbitrageutnyttjande på oddsmarknaden2018Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this study is to investigate individuals' risk behavior during investments and to gain a deeper understanding of arbitrage and the unsystematic risk involved when an individual uses arbitrage opportunities. To investigate this a delimitation has been made to the odds market and the risk-free utilization of arbitrage in the form of Surebets. The method used to investigate this has been a qualitative and quantitative method in the form of a triangulation. Through a survey and interviews, a causal relationship could identify behavioral fluctuations in individuals when it comes to profit and loss cases. An Eta2 test was conducted and demonstrated a connection between individuals' risk behaviour and the knowledge of Surebets. The study found several unsystematic risks for users linked to Surebets, where the largest are the gaming companies and its user agreement. Finally, the null hypothesis can be rejected by means of the Eta2 test and a causal relationship, which proves a higher risk taking among individuals exploiting arbitrage opportunities on the odds market.

    The purpose of this study is to investigate how children's literature used at preschool, focusing on social interaction between the children ́s and between the children and the educators. Through interviews and observations at four preschools, we studied the way in which teachers and children made use of children's literature.We propose the following questions:

    • In wich way does the preschool teachers using the children’s literature at preschoolin a verbally interaction?
    • What is the purpose when the educators using the childrens’s literature?
    • How is the children using the literture that exist at the preschoolin a social interaction?

    This study is based on a qualitative method with interviews, observations and audio recordings. Our theoretical approach to this study is the socio -Cultural perspectiveLearning and development by Lev Vygotsky. We will also use John Dewey, highlight the concept of experience.

    Vargens återetablering har gett upphov till en tidvis ganska intensiv debatt. Tidigare forskning visade att svenskarna var positiva till att det fanns varg i landet, men att en eventuell risk för människor eller tamdjur hade negativ inverkan på människors attityder. Människorna är också påverkade av sin uppväxtmiljö och det samhälle de lever i. Genom en kvantitativ innehållsanalys av de tre tidningstyperna landsortspress (Falu Kuriren), storstadspress (Dagens Nyheter) och fackpress (ATL) har rapporteringen om vargen under fyra månader åren 2001-2005 analyserats. Det förekom två övergripande argumentationslinjer. Å ena sidan det perspektiv där vargen lyfts fram som hotad av människan, å andra sidan det perspektiv som bygger på att vargen utgör ett hot mot människan och hennes aktiviteter. I Falu Kuriren publicerades fler vargnegativa artiklar än i Dagens Nyheter och ATL. Dagens Nyheter publicerade fler neutrala artiklar än Falu Kuriren och ATL. Men rapporteringen var till största delen saklig och objektiv oavsett tidning. De aktörer som oftast kom till tals i vargdebatten var jägare, makthavare/tjänstemän och forskare/sakkunniga. Ämnen som togs upp var främst jaktrelaterade frågeställningar, vargstammens utbredning och tillväxt samt händelser med anknytning till folks vardag. Rapporteringen i tidningarna präglades av olika synsätt och uppfattningar om varg. Tidningarna och dess reportrar påverkades av den miljö de verkade i, men det fanns en likriktning där man försökte undvika att ta ställning. Detta stämde väl överens med teorin.

    The purpose of this study is to stress what experiences men working in the earlier school years share about being a minority group and what thoughts they have about why other men tend to avoid this profession.

    In this survey I have interviewed four male teachers in the earlier school years. In previous research it is claimed that men choose not to get a teacher training for the earlier school years partly because this profession is known to be dominated by women where it is difficult for men to feel at home. It is also claimed that teachers in training choose the later school years in order to focus more on teaching than looking after the children. None of the interviewed men sees it as a problem being a minority group, neither during training nor in teaching. What the men in this survey state as the main reasons for why other men do not choose to become teachers are the low levels of status and salary. They also believe that the schools need more men but most of all qualified teachers who have chosen this profession because they take an interest in it.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this paper is to investigate how Swedish pension funds performed during the period 2005-01-01 to 2009-12-07. We want to investigate this when there is large transfers of pension capital in the coming period in the Swedish pension system. The survey contains a sample of 25 Swedish pension funds in seven of the major Swedish pension companies. Four fund types are used in the Survey: An equity fund, a balanced fund, and two different interest funds. Based on historical data, we have calculated the return and risk for the current period of Funds. This was used to calculate the Sharpe ratio for each fund for this measure to compare its performance. The result we reached is that equity funds and balanced funds has the highest Sharpe ratio of each company. The result is that these funds are good investments, primarily in longterm. The conclusion to be drawn is that the choice of pension funds depends on what risk you are willing to take. Equity funds and balanced funds have higher risk but gives better returns, while interest funds are stable placements for short and long term. But instead they give a low return.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this paper is to investigate how Swedish pension funds' risk-adjusted returns are affected by fund assets. This is because it´s implements large movements of the pension capital right now, mostly because it´s legal to move your pension right now.

    The survey contains a sample of 25 Swedish pension funds in seven of the major Swedish pension companies. Four fund types are used in the survey: An equity fund, a balanced fund, and two different interest funds. Historical data has been been developed to measure the relationship between risk-adjusted returns and fund assets.

    The results of the study concluded that there is only a very weak positive correlation between fund assets and performance of the selected funds. This shows that the fund assets is not so great significance in your choice of the pension. The conclusion we can draw from this is that fund assets have different effects on funds performance depending on what type of fund you are looking for. If you want to invest in equity funds in your choice of pension, you can have in mind that the smaller funds in the study has performed slightly better than the large ones and if you want to invest in balanced funds you don’t have to take any further account of fund assets.

    Abstract [en]

    My title is children in need of special support –pedagogues reason about their work and has focus on how eight pedagogues in preschool that I have interviewed define the concept children in need of special support and how they reason about the work with the children who they think are part of the concept. The purpose was to examine how some pedagogues in preschool reason about how they work with children in need of special support. My questions that I have assumed in interviews are;

    1. How do the pedagogues reason about the concept children in need of special support?

    2. How do the pedagogues reason about the daily work with focus on children in need of special support?

    3. How do the pedagogues reason based on the preschools approach about children in need of special support?

    My conclusion in this study show, based on pedagogue’s reason, that the concept of children in need of special support is difficult to define because it includes so much, everything from diffuse difficulties to visible disabilities. Furthermore, the pedagogues identified that all children who show some form of difficulty are entitled to support based on their own needs and circumstances. They emphasized on the environment as an important factor in children’s development, because different factors can both enable and disable the development and strive to adapt the environment so that all children can participate based on their abilities. The pedagogues proceed from the individual’s difficulties to adjust the work outside the individual’s needs. A highlight in the pedagogue’s reason is how the environment affects the individual’s development, which I can relate to my perspective, the psychosocial perspective. The starting point in the perspective is how the environment affects the individuals development and how environmental factors affects how several an individual's difficulty will be.

    Abstract [en]

    The text is about behaviour and appearance of boys and girls in the classroom in a gender perspective. How are the boys and girls placed in the classroom, and does this affect them in any way? How boys and girls are called on to speak. Is the teacher fare in the allocation of speech? There are a lot of differences between the genders, boys and girls are placed in a special way. In the two schools that I have done the research in shows that boys and girls are placed girl-boy-girl-boy so the boys can get more done during the class with the girls placed next to them. How and in what way they get the attention and the direction to talk is also a situation where they get treated differently. The boys often got to speak before the girls if there were waving there hands heavily for example and sometimes got to speak even if a girl already where speaking. The boys spoke whenever they felt like, even if it wasn’t there turn. This study is written to help teachers and for others to get a good look of the classroom in gender perspective.

    Missnöjet inom vården beror främst på de långa väntetiderna och bristfällig tillgänglighet till vårdcentralerna. Frågan är om det verkligen är mer resurser som är lösningen på problemen eller om intresset istället bör riktas mot de system och ramar som vårdpersonalen har att verka inom? Att använda ett styrmedel som fokuserar på rätt faktorer och inte bara det ekonomiska, kan möjligtvis hjälpa vårdcentralerna att bli mer flexibla, förbättra tillgängligheten och öka kvaliteten på vården.

    I denna uppsats studeras KvaLita Närsjukvård AB (KvaLita NSV), en privat vårdorganisation som driver ett antal vårdcentraler på entreprenad åt landstinget. KvaLita NSV:s ekonomistyrning bedrivs med ett balanserat styrkort som styrmedel. Tanken med balanserat styrkort är att företaget ska ses ur fler perspektiv än enbart det finansiella. Styrkortet ska även koppla ihop den kortsiktiga verksamhetsstyrningen med den långsiktiga visionen och strategin.

    Uppsatsens övergripande syfte är att beskriva KvaLita NSV:s balanserade styrkort och därmed belysa hur en sjukvårdsenhet kan tillämpa modellen. Delsyftet med uppsatsen är att identifiera och jämföra företagsledningens attityder kring styrkortets funktion och fördelar.

    Som metod för insamling av empirisk data användes en kvalitativ fallstudie. Primärdata samlades in genom ostrukturerade intervjuer. Undersökningen är gjord ur ett ledningsperspektiv, där de intervjuade valdes utifrån deras position i företagets ledning.

    Användandet av balanserat styrkort i KvaLita NSV har inte riktigt fått den effekt som ledningen på huvudkontoret önskade. De har inte lyckats förankra konceptet i hela organisationen och uppföljningen har varit bristfällig. Det framkom av undersökningen att det finns en hel del skillnader inom ledningen gällande attityden till styrkortet. Styrkortet måste för att fungera, vara levande i hela organisationen. Om inte ledningen är överens om dess funktion och fördelar är det svårt att övertyga och engagera övriga medarbetare. De intervjuade är dock överens om att balanserat styrkort är rätt styrmedel för verksamheten och att utformningen är bra. KvaLita NSV kommer därför att göra en

    nysatsning i styrkortsarbetet år 2006.

    I uppsatsen redovisas vårt examensarbete inom den kompletterande lärarutbildningen vid Södertörns högskola. Syftet med detta arbete är att göra en teoretisk studie med praktiska inslag för att få en klarare bild av vad dyskalkyli är och hur vi som lärare skall hantera elever med detta specialpedagogiska problem.

    Arbetet är en komparativ litteraturstudie där vi utgått från material kopplat till dyskalkyli och matematiksvårigheter samt en kvalitativ studie i form av intervjuer med tre specialpedagoger vid olika skolor för att få en inblick i hur arbetet med matematiksvårigheter bedrivs.

    Vår slutsats är att dyskalkyli är svårt att begripa och att det är svårt att avgöra när en elev har dyskalkyli och inte allmänna matematiksvårigheter. Trots detta är det viktigt att ställa en diagnos för att eleven skall kunna få rätt hjälp. Vi kan även konstatera att det finns kopplingar mellan dyskalkyli och dyslexi.

    Abstract [en]

    Many studies on neurogenesis in adult dentate gyrus (DG) have been performed on rodents and other mammalian species, but only a few on adult human DG.  This study is focusing on neurogenesis in adult human DG. To characterize the birth of cells in DG, the expression of the cell proliferation marker Ki67 was examined using immunohistochemistry. Ki67-positive labelling was indeed observed in the granular cell layer and the molecular layer of dentate gyrus and in the hilus of hippocampus, as well as in the subgranular zone (SGZ). The Ki67 positive nuclei could be divided into three groups, based on their morphology and position, suggesting that one of the groups represents neuronal precursors. Fewer Ki67 positive cells were seen in aged subjects and in subjects with an alcohol abuse. When comparing the Ki67 positive cells and the amount of blood vessels as determined by anti factor VIII, no systematic pattern could be discerned. To identify possible stem/progenitor cells in DG a co-labelling with nestin and glial fibrillary acid protein was carried out. Co-labelling was found in the SGZ, but most of the filaments were positive for just one of the two antibodies. Antibodies to detect immature/mature neurons were also used to investigate adult human neurogenesis in DG. The immature marker βIII-tubulin showed a weak expression. The other two immature markers (PSA-NCAM and DCX) used did not work, probably since they were not cross-reacting against human tissue. In summary, this study shows that new cells are continuously formed in the adult human hippocampus, but at a slower pace compared to the rat, and that some of these new cells may represent neuronal precursors.

    De flesta företag har visioner. En visions syfte är att fungera som en kompass som vägleder individer och grupper så att de lättare kan fokusera på företagens mål. Visioner har en förmåga att inge hopp om en bättre framtid, en framtid som är tillräckligt attraktiv att den anses vara värd hårt arbete för att en dag nå dit. Visioner ska fungera som en bas i företaget för att påminna om vad som är viktigt i organisationen, hur den bör relatera till omgivningen och hur intressenter ska bemötas. Tidigare studier visar att nästan alla anställda vid företag har svårt att förstå eller är helt omedvetna om företagets vision. Vad beror det på att företag trots detta väljer att lägga ner resurser på att skapa visioner?

    I denna uppsats har 22 anställda vid tre olika företag - NCC, Setra AB och Manpower - intervjuats. Utgångspunkten har varit att studera de anställdas medvetenhetsnivå av visionen på företaget som de arbetar på. Tanken var att undersöka om visionen är så effektiv för organisationen som företagen anser att de är och om den kan ersättas med någon annan typ av motiveringsfras som de anställda lättare kan förstå samt arbeta efter.

    Studien visar att 73 % av respondenterna känner inte till visionen så pass väl att de kan berätta om den. De företagen som har värderingar som en del av visionen har lyckats bättre med att implementera dessa värderingar bland de anställda än visionen.

    Abstract [en]

    This paper concerns East German journalists and the changes they have undergone, from working in the totalitarian regime of GDR to enter a western liberal media system. The purpose is to study how professional identity is created in a controlled and authoritarian media system, and how this identity and the journalistic values changes in a transition phase. Through qualitative in-depth interviews with six former East German journalists, who all has worked as journalists after the wall broke down, we are exploring how their journalistic values and the conception of their profession has changed during this tumultuous time. We selected journalists with experience of working in both East Germany and united Germany to be able to see these changes. The result shows that the journalists from GDR used an inner opposition, both to survive the dictatorship and to adapt to the new reality. This means that their level of professionalization, despite the fact that they lived under oppression, was relatively high. In between these two systems a journalistic vacuum occurred which show that a different, more democratic, way of organizing the press is possible. In this vacuum the values of the journalists could be expressed in a way that wasn’t possible in GDR, nor in united Germany.

    Abstract [en]

    The implementation of a new framework can have a large impact on the companies due to the effects on the financial ratios. This despite the fact that the change in the accounting framework doesn't always result in any significant changes in the company's financial position. Since financial ratios are one of the primary ways to evaluate a company this becomes slightly problematic.

    Since 2014-01-01 the regulatory framework "K3" has been mandatory for larger companies in Sweden. The implementation of K3 has resulted in some essential differences in the depreciation of fixed assets, which could affect real estate companies extensively.

    The purpose of this study is to find out how the implementation of K3 has affected the result and the financial position in real estate companies.

    Some of the conclusions this study was able to draw is that K3 has had both positive, zero and negative effect on the real estate companies included in the selection. Many of the effects are directly related to the different way of dealing with the depreciation of fixed assets.

    Abstract [en]

    There is a great increase of the number of children in Swedish preschools and in the same time there is less resources. With the increase of the size of the group of children we have a growth of greater anxiety. The teachers in Swedish preschool experience a lot of running around and conflicts. This means that the teachers strives to find a new way to decrease the anxiety and conflicts among the children. The purpose of my study is to examine how one preschool carried out a change process in their indoor environment concerning the room, furniture and material. The purpose is also to study how children’s social interaction is affected by the new environment, there communication and interaction that is between child –child and child- environment which is a great deal of importance to a child’s learning process. This interaction between children stimulates their language which in its turn stimulates the children´s thinking. An important deal in interaction is the environment. The environment has an important part in stimulating the children´s development and learning. My method has included qualitative interviews and the study is done on a preschool with five informants which are teachers. The result of the study shows that to get a successful changing process the leaders has to be inspiring and perceptive. The leaders need to give their collaborators the time to go through every step of the changing process. The preschool Solrosen is keen on offering an accessible, inspiring and challenging indoor environment for children to develope in their own pace. After the preschools changing process, their indoor environments is no longer like a home, instead it has become a place for children to be inspired, creative and develope into individuals.

    Corporate Social Responsibility

    This thesis intends to exam the strategic use of Corporate Social Responsibility within fifthteen different companies, classified/divided into three various industries. The aim is to compare the three different industries, to look for disparities and similarities in their use of CSR. The disseration looks into both variance and resemblance in the use of Corporate Social Responsibility between the companies within the same branch of trade and between the industries.

    The industries of intrest

    The three industries that the study has focus on is consumer, manufacturing and service related industries. Where the consumer industry is classified as companies with direct sales towards private consumers, the physical citizen. The manufacturing industry is classified as companies that manufacture products but that does´nt sell their products directly to the regular consumer. The manufacturing industry contains of companies which maincustomer is other companies. The services industry consists of companies that only sell different kinds of services and no physical goods nor any production of goods.

    Selected Companies

    All the businesses in the thesis is swedish companies selected from a list consisting of companies with the highest turnovers in Sweden, excluding subsidaries. All of the selected companies is choosen among the companies within the hundred highest turnovers in Sweden. The selected companies for the study is IKEA, H&M, Ica, COOP and Shell within the consumer industry. Atlas Copco, SCA, Electrolux, Volvo Group and Skanska within the manufacturing industry and TeliaSonera, Vattenfall, SAS, Nordea and If Skadeförsäkran (insurance) within the service industry.

    The way of investigation

    The survey has looked into annual reports, sustainable reports and pressreleases to investigate and analys the companies and the industries occurrence and communication of their Corporate Social Responsibility. Among the occuring information collected regarding CSR, the study has focused on which way the firm has choosen to communicate, which projects they choose to support and get involved in. Finally it has also looked to which partners the choose to cooperate with. The years in focus has been 2006 to the end of april 2008, but with a head focus on 2006 years activity regarding Corporate Social Responsibility.

    Abstract [en]

    In this essay, I will look at three different Compulsory comprehensive schools in one community and I will compare final grades from students who graduated in spring 2006. I will also examine how the three schools work with students, and in what way they approach students with dyslexia/reading- and writing difficulties, so that they could reach goals set by The Swedish National Agency for Education. The aim with this essay is to show differences between schools in the same community and my question is if it is the way you approach students with dyslexia/reading- and writing difficulties that affects the student’s grades and results.

    The study is concentrating on three schools in one community and students with dyslexia and reading- and writing difficulties that went to those schools. I have spoken to remedial teacher at each school about how they approach students with dyslexia/reading- and writing difficulties, what kind of methods the use, how they investigate if a student is in need of special help and how they grade their students who are in need of special teaching because of their learning disabilities. This essay will also present different ways of defining dyslexia and how to approach the pedagogic difficulties that will appear in situations where students with reading- and writing difficulties gets exposed and are in need of special education or help.

    The results of this study can only be connected to those schools that have been studied for this exam. The results can not in any way be generalising for all schools in Sweden. However did the study results show that students that went to school 2 reached higher goals than students that went to school 1 or 3. The study also shows that these schools use different ways to work with students with dyslexia and reading- and writing difficulties. But to compare numbers and grades can’t give a fair picture of how each school work with each student so that they develop those skills and knowledge that is seen as necessary to become a democratic member of the society. Because numbers and grades cant tell anything about the student’s disabilities or what kind of knowledge or skills the student is in possession of. Nevertheless can this study when comparing grades, in the most general way, say that students that go to school 2 are more likely to reach goals that are set by The Swedish National Agency for Education.
