    Abstract [en]

    On Facebook there are interest groups created by journalists, for journalists, that focus on the journalistic profession and work methods. One example is the Swedish group, “Datajournalistik” (in English, “Data Journalism”), which was created in 2012. This article builds on Granovetter’s theory on the strength of weak ties and is focused on the skill development process taking place in the group. A content analysis has been carried out of all posts that received comments in order to explore the social functions of the group. The results indicate both a significant need for knowledge exchange and a need for self-affirmation. At the time of the study, the group was unique in the Nordic countries and as such has played a major role in data journalism’s development process in the Nordic region.

    Datajournalistik som grävande arbetsmetod resulterar ofta i att journalistiska vinklar visualiseras i form av mönster eller specifika samband med hjälp av digitala medieformer. Här möts två tidigare åtskilda kulturer då journalistiska arbetsmetoder kombineras med tekniska arbetsmetoder. För att skapa en berättelse får journalister förtroende att fatta beslut åt publiken, i publikens intresse, medan en ingenjör istället kan bli anklagad för att fatta paternalistiska beslut över huvudet på människor. Med utgångspunkt från aktuell nordisk datajournalistik diskuteras i denna artikel därför vad som händer när just dessa två kulturer möts, i termer av beslutsfattande åt publiken, i publikens intresse.

    Abstract [en]

    On Facebook there are interest groups created by journalists, for journalists, that focus on the journalistic profession and work methods. One example is the Swedish group, "Datajournalistik" (in English, "Data Journalism") created in 2012. The group has grown to more than 1,000 Nordic members, most of whom are active data journalists working primarily at Swedish media companies. This article builds on Granovetter's theory on the strength of weak ties. A content analysis of all posts with comments has been carried out to discuss tie strength in relation to information sharing and addressivity in the group. The findings indicate that Datajournalistik forms a network where the individuals are mainly connected by weak ties. Another conclusion is that the group has a function in developing data journalistic competence, but it also functions as means for journalists to promote Nordic data journalistic work in their community giving others credit while at the same time taking some of the credit for oneself.

    Abstract [en]

    This article analyzes privacy agreement texts and cookie consent information collected from 60 news sites in three countries (U.S., UK, and Sweden) within the context of paternalism. The goal of this study is to explore how paternalism is present in news media companies’ stated reasons for collecting behavioral data. Twenty-five categories of reasons were identified and divided into six categories: personalization and enhanced user experience, delivery and maintenance of services, internal and corporate use of data, legal reasons, communication with the user, and third-party use of data. The analysis shows that the reasons can be formulated in both paternalistic and nonpaternalistic ways, and that the market-driven logic of Web analytics seems to collide with ethics in a journalistic context.

    Att dela personlig information i digitala sammanhang kan ge fördelar, men det finns också risker. Trots att insamling av beteendedata sker på många av de sajter svenska folket använder idag, visar 2015 års SOM-undersökning att 60 procent av befolkningen är negativa till att dela personliga data med företag. Endast en liten andel av befolkningen accepterar fullt ut att insamling sker. Majoriteten av befolkningen säger att de försöker begränsa sin personliga information på internet, samtidigt är det bara 15 procent som noga läser igenom användarvillkor. Kanske beror svenskarnas övervä- gande negativa attityd till att dela data på en omedvetenhet kring när data samlas in och vilka fördelar det ger. Frågan är om ökad medvetenhet ger en mer accepterande attityd eller om det leder till det motsatta? Oavsett vilken riktning utvecklingen tar kommer företagen att behöva bli tydligare jämtemot användare med hur och när de samlar in beteendedata.

    Abstract [en]

    Data journalism is an evolving form of investigative journalism. In previous research andhandbooks published on this topic, this form of journalism has been called computer-assistedreporting and data-driven journalism, as well as precision, computational or database journalism.In Sweden, data journalism is still fairly uncommon. The purpose of this paper is to providean overview of the development of data journalism at seven Swedish traditional mediacompanies, using action research methods. The content of this paper is based on an onlinesurvey of journalists and in-depth interviews with editors at these participating companies. Theresults indicate that, based on how this field is currently perceived by journalists in the interviews,there is a common definition of data journalism. Furthermore, the survey shows thatthe attitudes towards data journalism during the process of introducing new methods andgenres of journalism into “old” organizations are correlated with the level of perceived experiencein data journalism working methods. The main challenges facing the working methodsof data journalism today are a shortage of time and the need for training and developingdata journalism skills.

    Decades of change in the media landscape and technological innovation have brought several uncertainties to media leadership. In this study, we build on the upper echelons theory to discuss the possible isomorphic behaviour of media leaders. Based on a survey of 372 Swedish media leaders, our results indicate that while innovation is considered to be a strength at media companies, innovation work may still stand in contrast to the institutional perspective. We found that Swedish media leaders perceive innovation as highly important and something they are good at. The perceived ability to work with innovation inside the organizations (rather than introducing knowledge from outside expertise) is undermined by the fact that, during the average work week, the majority of leaders set aside very little time for developing their own competences, individual talks with their employees, and time to reflect on their own work. Thus, in line with upper echelons theory, we find a paradox of trust in in-house innovative strength and, at the same time, media leaders fall back on their own experiences, limiting the inflow of new ideas into their strategic work.

    Trusting the audience to contribute data, a practice called crowdsourcing, is one of several procedures of contemporary data journalism. While previous research has embraced the idea of crowdsourcing as a transparent way of engaging the audience, the journalistic practice of crowdsourcing is currently still limited. The Spanish case is particularly illuminating of the gap between theoretical expectations and reality. Although online news media in Spain stands out because of its commitment to exploring interactive possibilities, and its audience is especially prone to comment on news, this qualitative study presents evidence that Spanish data journalists remain quite reluctant to embrace crowdsourcing as a research method. Based on semi-structured interviews with five Spanish data journalists, this paper explains the motivations behind this reluctance as well as the challenges of activating the audience.

    In 2013, with the introduction of the Transparency Law in Spain, a number of Spanish newsrooms started working with data journalism methods. In Sweden, which has one of the oldest Freedom of Information acts in the world, newsrooms invested in the skill development of data journalism at approximately the same time. Because previous research suggests that access to public data has been one of the key driving forces for the development of data journalism worldwide, it is important to understand how legislation is actually shaping the practice of data journalism. Based on a survey of 66 key informants in Spain and Sweden and ten in-depth interviews with data journalists from five media companies in each country, we conducted a comparative study, building on the frameworks of media systems to explore data journalism practices in these two countries. The differences found indicate that the national and EU legislation in both nations shape journalistic strategies for accessing data, turning journalists at times into activists fighting for the right to access public data. Beyond the law, data journalists advocate for a transparency culture among the civil servants, in order to secure public accountability.

    Detta är en jämförande studie om medierepresentationen av oljekrisen i Stavanger i Norge och Aberdeen i Skottland. I uppsatsens första del undersöker och jämför vi tre nyhetsartiklar från norska lokala tidningar i Stavanger med tre skotska lokala tidningar i Aberdeen genom en kvalitativ textanalys. I uppsatsens andra del lägger vi tyngd på journalisternas uppfattning om krissituationen och använder oss av semistrukturerade intervjuer. Genom kvalitativa intervjuer med norska och skotska journalister jämför vi hur de resonerar kring val av vinklar, nyheter, källor och hur de upplever sitt yrke och sin arbetsroll i relation till rapporteringen av oljekrisen.

    I arbetet lyfter vi fram skillnader i framställningen av situationen i Stavanger respektive Aberdeen. Vi använder oss av en etnografisk intervju i vårt tillvägagångssätt när vi träffar journalisterna, för att kunna använda detta som en ingång till historisk bakgrund för effekterna av oljekrisen och påverkan på städerna.

    En utgångspunkt för uppsatsen är att undvika att bedöma huruvida det rör sig om en kris eller inte och istället fokusera på gestaltningen i de valda medierna och journalisternas upplevelser av sitt arbete.

    Resultatet av vår studie visar att det finns nationella samband med hur journalisterna uppfattar oljekrisen. De norska journalisterna mörkar i högre utsträckning att det pågått en omfattande oljekris i Stavanger, medan de skotska journalisterna talar mer öppet om en kris. Vi kan genom denna studie konstatera att det återfinns skillnader i hur den lokala rapporteringen för oljekris sker, samt hur gestaltningen av oljekrisens konsekvenser ser ut i artiklarna som vi har valt att analysera.

    Abstract [en]

    The European Union was created to promote peace and stability and evolved to become an economic union. Its member states are part of trade agreements where tariffs and quotas are abolished. Trade liberations lead to easier access of information and technology which in turn lead to faster growth. This study was made as we were interested to see if high level of economic integration, EU membership, has effected economic growth. The dependent variable we chose to study is GDP growth per capita. The time period included in the study is the years 1996-2011.

    In this study we are interested to see if higher level of economic integration has led to growth and income convergence in the Central and Eastern European. A multiple regression analysis has been conducted to see if EU membership have an effect on growth. In addition a beta convergence regression is carried out in order to see if the new member states are catching up to the EU income level.

    We found that joining the EU has no significant effect on growth. However the CEEC seem to enjoy higher level of price stability due to EU membership. However due to the lack of observations the results we received are inconclusive.

    Abstract [en]

    Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to examine how market efficiency on the Stockholm stock exchange has been affected by the financial crisis of 2008, which is carried out by examining if companies earn abnormal returns when publishing quarterly reports.

    Theoretical perspectives: The theory chapter is based on the efficient market hypothesis, where its three different components and anomalies are discussed.

    Methodology: The examination is carried out by an event study and a hypothesis test to control how the efficiency on NasdaqOMX has been affected by the financial crisis. The examination is based on a three year period, 2009-2011, and includes the stocks on the index OMXS30. Stock data has been collected from the 29 companies in the OMXS30, with regard to dates the quarterly reports were published. This gives a total of 261 observations under three years.

    Empirical outcome: The hypothesis test, together with other empirical results, has shown that there may be a relation between the publishing of quarterly reports and company stock price. However, empirical results show that the financial crisis effect on the market efficiency has been insignificant.

    Analysis: Analysis of the empirical results show that there are clear signs of change in company stock price when publishing quarterly reports. However, the significant change can be seen during the publishing of quarterly report one and two. Analysis of the empirical results also shows that the market has quickly readjusted after the financial crisis.

    Conclusion: The study shows that there are signs of semi-strong market efficiency on NasdaqOMX, even if this efficiency is not 100 percent strong. However, it is hard to come to a general conclusion on how much the financial crisis 2008 has affected this efficiency due to the fact that one financial crisis has resolved after another.

    Abstract [en]

    This chapter focuses on education policies in Portugal, Poland and Sweden, exploring links between the political construction of ESL and the fight against it. Portugal still has one of the highest rates in Europe, even with great progress; Sweden is and has been in quite a comfortable position very close to the European average; and the rate of ESL in Poland is significantly below. We take into consideration the relationships of education with Europeanization, including the assertion of new roles for the state that interacts in a multiple scale governance - the dispersion of decision-making from the states to European institutions in line with Roger Dale (2007). We argue that these processes bring to the fore difficulties and opportunities that are explored in national interpretations of the educational policy and phenomena. Taking into account the specific educational structures, policies and practices in the three countries, the chapter highlights that the educational debate varies in areas of concentration and there are tensions in the discussion of vocational tracks; that the socio-political and economic crisis has reshaped the ways different countries address ESL and try to make the best of EU funding; that tensions remain in varying degrees between the social and educational goals and the needs of the labour market; and that social concerns about equality of opportunities and educational development are not as common as they should be in light of the EU concern about social inclusion.

    Anonymous job applications are a relatively new method that has gained space in the Swedish labor market and the research field in recent years. Research shows that personal attributes are often crucial for who gets called to a job interview. Therefore, this study refers to examine how recruiters evaluate and use this approach and demonstrates the importance that anonymity has to the outcome of the recruitment process.The study is based on a hermeneutic perspective with a qualitative approach and was conducted using a comparative study design, with analysis based on several case studies. The empirical material consists of five semi-structured interviews, which together creates two cases within the IT and consulting industry.During the analysis, a theoretical framework has been presented which consists of the labelling theory and the analytical concepts of homosociality and etnosociality. These three are used to increase the understanding of how a sorting method based only on formal criteria, training and work experience, is used in practice. This has led an employer to focus on individual competency instead of ethnic background, gender or age. However, a problem remains in the industry where age is a determining factor and ethnicity is linked to Swedish language skills. Difficulties also arise when customer influence plays a large role in the recruitment process and this creates a framework of what is expected of every employee. This enables consultants to be adapted depending on the criteria that are necessary for the specific company. It is not only vital what recruiters or employers value but also what the clients wants and expect of the consultants.

Vi har undersökt om politiken gestaltades som spel eller sakfråga, hur gestaltningen förändrats över tid och vilka faktorer som avgjort vilken gestaltningsform som dominerat. En slutdebatt per decennium från 70-talet och framåt har genomgått en kvalitativ textanalys. Åren är 1976, 1982, 1991, 2002 och 2010.

       Den kvalitativa textanalysen kompletterades med dels en kvantitativ studie som redovisar hur många gånger olika karaktäristiska drag från spelgestaltning förekommer i tidningarna, och dels en tillbakablick på de olika valrörelserna för att sätta analysen i en historisk kontext.

       Studiens slutsats var att vilken gestaltning som dominerar i tidningarna beror på flera olika saker. En jämnare valrörelse skapar mer artiklar om vinnare och förlorare och ger mer spelgestaltning. Om slutdebatten är lugn och saklig kommer tidningarnas bevakning också vara det. Gestaltningen av politiken som spel har inte ökat med tiden. För Aftonbladet har den varierat kraftigt från år till år och för Svenska Dagbladet har den snarare minskat.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this essay is to gain a deeper understanding of the social relations that take place at work between locals and seasonal workers in Åre, and to find out whether there exists a division between those who work and live seasonal in Åre and those who permanently live and work in Åre. The method used is a qualitative method with semi-structured interviews consisting of four seasonal workers and three locals in Åre from a storytelling perspective.

    The general results show that there is a strong division between these two groups because of their completely separate lifestyles, but still it does not exist any overall conflict between them. Their working relationship overall was decent but they were not socialized beyond work or even had a thought for that either. The strong division between these groups created a feeling of exclusion, the one group felt that it did not belong to the other and vice versa. Opinions about seasonal workers different habits and behavior in Åre compared to their habits at home arose, which both groups were aware of solidified the grouping.

    Abstract [en]

    “If you fold you will be eaten” – a intervju study about masculinity and violence written by Isabel Arias and Mina Andersson. Violence is a social problem regulated by the Swedish juridical system. It is defined as an act in which a person intentionally or due to negligence afflicts harm, pain, suffering or death onto another. Both men and women are victims and perpetrators of violence. Statistically men are overrepresented when it comes to the use of violence. The purpose of this interview-based study is to create a deeper understanding of how violent men themselves view their acts of violence, and how norms of masculinity may have affected those acts. This qualitative study is based on semi-structured interviews, hermeneutically interpreted. Modern sociological understanding of gender, primarily based on Hirdman and Connell, theory of deviating's sociology and Connell's theory of hegemonic masculinity provides the theoretical framework to this study. The results indicate that socially excluded young men are likely to be normalized to, and actively choose violence and violence promoting groups in order to find a community. To these men the violence thus becomes a resource to achieve what one lacks; a way to re-establish status, earn respect, possess power and as a mean to control others and one self. The study furthermore indicates that men legitimize their use of violence in various ways; blaming high levels of testosterone or arguing that violet act comes from inherent difficulties verbalizing emotions.

    Human Resource Management acts as an intermediary between the employees and the management to develop the organization. With today's fierce competition it is especially important to have employees who possesses competence and that the organization is continuously working with developing them further to maintain successful.

    The organization need to recruit new employees when the existing leaves, new competence is required or reformulated objectives for the organization which leads to a demand on new employees. Finding right in the recruitment is vital to ensure the organization continues with competent employees that can drive the organization forward.

    The purpose of this thesis is to create a greater understanding of how development- and training opportunities together with recruitment occurs. The thesis aims to identify the processes of how organizations operate regarding the above-mentioned research areas.

    The thesis has been based on the hermeneutic epistemological approach with a qualitative research method. Through three interviews and documentation of internal material data has been collected for the thesis.

    The results show that there are similarities in all examined organizations where development and training opportunities is offered mostly by interacting with the unit managers and through the organizations web portals. However, there are differences in the extent to which employees are given time to training in the surveyed organizations. The recruitment process of the organizations is alike, but with some differences which made clear during the recruitment process. Where cooperation with the employees, the HR department and the unit managers is the biggest difference.

    Abstract [en]

    This study aims to investigate how five women have been affected by intimate partner violence and what consequences it has brought upon them. It also clarifies why women stay in violent relationships and what it takes to leave it at the end. The study also explores the effects on women’s self-esteem after leaving a violent relationship. 

     

    The methodology used for this study has a qualitative approach and is processed through semi-structured interviews with five women who have experienced intimate partner violence. The theoretical theories that have been used and applied to this study are, “Becoming an example: the process of rotating the exit”, “The dynamics of violence and normalization” and “Social capital”.

     

    The results of the study show that the normalization of intimate partner violence is a major (contributing) factor to why women stay in violent relationships. The contributing factor to why women choose to leave violent relationships is finding of a purpose and a symbolic meaning to not participate in these types of relationships. Examples of these purposes and meanings are the potential harm to children, if children are involved in the situation, or realization of that there are no signs of behavioral change. All five women who participated in this study show a significant change in regards of identity.

    Problem: The construction industry is one of the major industrial sectors that has created the least integration. The industry's project-based character and high fragmentation contributes to a significant challenge for involving stakeholders. The researchers in this study believe there is a shortage in literature of how organizations in the construction industry manages to integrate their subcontractors.

    Purpose: The purpose of the study has been to create a clear understanding of the needs and implications of outsourcing in practice and how these are optimized to utilize the full potential of outsourcing. By studying a major actor's approach to integrate its subcontractors in a projectbased industry, the study aims to provide increased knowledge of how integration can be successful when an organization chooses to outsource parts of its production.

    Method: This study has used semi-structured interviews and one of the researcher’s observations as part of the empirical basis. The interviews took place with three of Skanska's employees: purchasing manager, logistics manager and block manager for SN81. Following interviews were conducted with two subcontractors and one sub-subcontractor: VSM, Bellmans and Olderin.

    Conclusion: Integration takes place through contracts, strategic partnerships and information sharing. Through contracting and agreements with specific requirements, Skanska tries to maintain the standards and approaches that they consider to be significant. As a result of the strategic partnerships and long-term relationships Skanska has created an interdependence to the subcontractors. Outsourcing of business areas contributes to reduced knowledge, insight and control of operations. As a result of Skanska's creation of self-contained tasks and creation of lateral relations, uncertainty is reduced. With the help of control tools, Skanska reduces the risk of opportunistic behaviour among subcontractors.

    Background: Corporate Governance is something that concerns companies regularly and is forming a central part of corporate organizations. Agency-theory is the most attentive theory in Corporate Governance, which explains the differ goals and interests between the agents and principals in a company. Previous studies have shown differences between anglosaxisk and european countries, concerning the ownership structure.To prevent interest conflicts in companies several policies, presented as Codes have been presented in different countries.   

    Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze how companies on the OMX30 Stockholm Stock Exchange, apply the main principles of the Swedish Corporate Governance Code. The study also aims to review if there is any pattern regarding the companies ownership structure and how the companies choose to follow the Code.

    Method: In order to examine and answer the questions of this study, the study intends to use a qualitative content approach with a deductive approach. The study has been conducted by reviewing public information from annual reports, corporate governance reports and websites for the selected companies during the years 2013-2017.

    Conclusion: The findings of the study indicates that most of the companies apply the Swedish Code of Corporate Governance without any deviations, where companies with a dispersed ownership is a majority. The study does not show any significant trend of a decreased or increased deviation from the code during the years 2013-2017. There is no ownership structure constituting a majority of the study’s investigated companies. The most common deviations in this study are 2.4 and 9.2 from the Swedish Code.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this paper is to illustrate how individuals with disabilities construct their capability deprivation in relation to the opportunities for development created by structural and personal factors. Capability deprivation means that people perceive a lack of freedoms and rights to use their talents to achieve their personal goals. These goals may be of economic, social and cultural nature and may involve the development of the individual that he or she values high. When capability deprivation occurs it is equated with poverty. This paper has a theoretically orientation since is based on the Capability approach which is a framework that is used, among other things, to assess the individual's opportunity for development. The previous researches cited in this paper have as their main focus the capabilities of the individual in relation to their environment, which is considered relevant to the study area. An analytical model to interpret the empirical data has been developed with the help of the theoretical framework and previous research. This analytical model takes into account the structural, social and individual factors which have been divided into micro, medium and macro level. These in its turn form the information base for analyzing the collected material and can tell us whether people with disabilities experience deprivation of their capabilities in the different levels. Empirical data were collected using qualitative methods like interviews with people with physical disabilities living in Stockholm. The results suggest that the target grupp can experience capability deprivation mainly due to structural and social factors that account for midel- and macro-level, which in its turn affects people with disabilitiesalso in the micro-level.

    Abstract [en]

    This bachelor thesis examine how the early hip-hop music mirrors the society in the US ghettos in the 80s and 90s in order to explore how the artists' individual experiences take the expression in artistic form of coherent discourse on public issues. It uses structural textual analysis thatencode and analyze lyrics from ten hip-hop songs. The material was studied with the help of Elias and Scotsons theories established and outsiders, Bourdieu's capital types, field and habitus, and postcolonial theory that Eriksson, Eriksson Baaz and Thorn highlights in there book GlobaliseringensKulturer. The survey shows that the songs we analyzed tells of similar problems, which we divided into five themes: crime, poverty, ideals, discrimination and depression. In this way, we concluded that there are common patterns in the songs we chose. In conclusion, the study shows that the analyzed songs express the artists’, both individual problems such as depression, poverty, criminality in an artistic form. But also other issues such as discrimination and racism in a larger level.

    Background: Kate Fletcher coined the concept of Slow Fashion in 2007, as a reaction to the throwaway society, called Fast Fashion. Fast Fashion is all about companies who choose to work in a quick and cheap way, while Slow Fashion is all about designing, producing and living in a better way for the environment and social sustainability.

    Purpose: The purpose of the study is to explore if, and in that case how, fashion firms can combine encouragement to Slow Fashion by their marketing and at the same time be able to increase sales in their business, or if it is even possible to combine.

    Theories: The PESTLE-model by Baines (2011), Sustainability model by Söderqvist et al. (2014), Seven forms of sustainable fashion by Green Strategy (2014), Slow Fashion Process by Pookulangara & Shepard (2013) and Marketing Mix by Baines (2011).

    Method: A qualitative method has been applied to the study, where four semi-structured interviews from selected Slow Fashion firms have been made, also homepage inspections and facts about the firms has been collected as secondary data.

    Conclusion: The conclusion of the study is that it is possible for fashion firms to combine encouragement to Slow Fashion and at the same time be able to increase their sales. This is possible through widening their range of products or stealing costumers from the Fast Fashion industry.

    Relationer i leverantörskedjor, långsiktiga företagsrelationer och samarbete mellan företag är områden som ges alltmer fokus från såväl företagsvärlden som vetenskapen. Forskningen visar att relationerna mellan företagen har blivit djupare och att man samarbetar i större utsträckning med såväl leverantörer som kunder. Det är inte längre enskilda företag som står i fokus, utan hela kedjor av leverantörer samarbetar för att skapa en produkt till slutkunden.

    Studier om leverantörskedjor och företagsrelationer har dock i stor utsträckning varit kvantitativa och personperspektiv saknas. Utifrån detta är syftet med denna studie att undersöka hur individer som arbetar med företagsrelationer upplever dessa relationer och att relatera till teorier om relationer i leverantörskedjor och företagsrelationer kopplat till främst det logistiska fältet.

    I denna studie har tre kvalitativa intervjuer genomförts och empirin från dessa har sedan jämförts med teorier om formalisering, interpersonella relationer, relationer i leverantörskedjor och relationsskapande.

    Intervjupersonerna och forskarna har stora likheter i tankarna kring till exempel hur relationer och samarbete definieras, vikten av tillit och ärlighet, samt individens roll i företagsrelationen. Frågetecken väcks dock om hur teorin kontra empirin beskriver inledningen av samarbetet, samt till viss del vad långsiktiga relationer innebär.

    Abstract: Marketing has undergone several eras due to radical conversions. It has come to an increasingly digitized environment with people constantly connected to the Internet and companies that are increasingly visible on digital platforms. In marketing, this digitization has meant fundamental changes and conditions that extend beyond the physical scope of the company. Consumers' increased power and impact in combination with the changing conditions of digitization imposes higher demands on companies that need to find new strategies with content that generate added value to compete in the market. Companies unable to turn to the changed reality are at risk of bankruptcy.

    The purpose of this study is to chart how companies can apply value-creating content to adapt to digitization in a competitive environment. In order to investigate the problem, a qualitative approach has been used in which interviews have been conducted with five companies that are involved in value-creating content and marketing strategies. The theory of the study has been gathered from previous research and includes value-creating content, digital strategies, competition strategies, differentiation and positioning.

    The conclusion is that the factors that are important when businesses are to use value-creating content, is that they should have an in-depth perspective with the customer in focus. Companies that work with value-creating content should have a creative approach and be honest in their storytelling. They also need to work with a long-term strategy that repeatedly need to be evaluated time after time because value-creating marketing is not just a tool, it's more an approach.

    Den här uppsatsen analyserar tolv texter från Svenska Turistföreningens medlemstidning Turist. Texterna är hämtade från 1964 till 2014 med två nedslag vart tionde år.

    Syftet med uppsatsen är att ta reda på vem turisten i de analyserade reportagen är, hur hen ser på sig själv och på andra som hen möter under sina resor och hur landskap, väder, miljöer och människor beskrivs.

    Analysen är gjord med ett frågeschema som skapats med stöd från massmedieretorisk och narratologisk metod. De aspekter som undersöks handlar framför allt om hur människor på resmålet beskrivs, hur landskap, djur och väder beskrivs och används i berättelserna, hur turisten ser på sig själv och andra och vilka värderingar som framkommer.

    De teoretiska ramar som används utgår från romantikens syn på besjälade landskap samt en postkolonial syn på turism och turister och deras påverkan på turistmål.

    Resultatet visar att turisten ser både resmål, miljö och människorna på resmålen med exotifierande ögon. Turisten längtar efter äkthet och strävar under sin semester efter att bli en mer äkta, rejäl och hälsosam människa. Det framkommer också att bildspråk och sätt att skildra naturen har starka kopplingar till romantikens strömningar. Landskapet beskrivs som besjälat och vädret speglar turistens sinnesstämningar.

    Vår undersökning utgick från de vetenskapliga frågeställningarna ” Vad styr utrikeskorrespondenternas utformning av nyhetsnätet?” och ”Vilka konsekvenser har relationen till hemmaredaktionen för arbetsrutinerna och nyhetsnätet?”

    Vi stödjer oss på Gaye Tuchmans teori om news net, nyhetsnätet. Teorin går i korta ordalag ut på att man som journalist behöver en systematiserad nyhetsinsamling, ett nyhetsnät, för att på bästa sätt bedriva journalistiskt arbete. Varför är detta intressant? Bakgrunden till vår uppsats är att vi tror att utrikeskorrespondenter har ett för reportrar annorlunda arbetssätt till följd av deras förutsättningar (verksamma i ett annat land, samhälle etc.) Frågeställningen kring relationen till hemmaredaktionen är relevant eftersom utrikeskorrespondenten får antas ha ett kunskapsövertag gentemot hemmaredaktionen vad gäller det geografiska området korrespondenten är satt att bevaka.

    Vi har utfört kvalitativa forskningsintervjuer med ett urval av utrikeskorrespondenter som alla representerar europeisk tryckt press, och som alla är baserade i Stockholm. Resultatet av studien visar att rikstäckande tryckt press styr utformningen av utrikeskorrespondenternas nyhetsnät när de letar efter uppslag till artiklar. Ytterligare en central fråga var hur deras värdering av offentliga källor och kontakter kontra personliga såg ut. Den slutsats vi dragit är att det i stor utsträckning är den specifika uppdragsgivarens läsekrets och resurser som styr hur korrespondenterna värderar offentliga respektive personliga källor. Relationen till hemmaredaktionen visade sig bygga på en relativ balans där korrespondenten sågs som expertis på området och regionen. Detta gör i sin tur att det i första hand är korrespondenten som hör av sig till redaktionen, i och med att hen har ”exklusiv” kunskap om vad det är som är värt att skriva om.

    Abstract [en]

    The purpose of this study was to explore how unaccompanied minors describe their experiences of family reunification, and what importance or implications it has for them. Furthermore, our aim was to find out how they experience the withdrawal of public social support after the arrival of their families. We interviewed three persons who were unaccompanied minors by the arrival to Sweden, and later reunified with their families in Sweden. The theoretical framework of this qualitative interview study is formed by Schütz’ phenomenological sociology and Berger and Luckmann’s theory of the social construction of reality. We complemented the theoretical framework with Boss’ theory of ambiguous loss and Greif’s theory of ambiguous reunification. The method for analysis used is Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The main results shown in this study is that there seems to be an ambiguity in the family reunification experience. On one hand, the family reunification was of big importance to the participants. On the other hand, the time following the reunification was characterized by a great responsibility for the family. Finally, we discuss possible shortcomings in the way the public social support for families after family reunification is provided.

I samband med avskaffandet av revisionsplikten har de mindre bolagen varit tvungna att strukturera om de finansiella underlagen för att optimera sina chanser till beviljad kredit. Betydelsen av förtroende mellan banken och företagen har visat sig vara viktig del vid ansökan av finansiella medel. Processen omfattar flera steg inklusive korrelationen mellan risk och förtroende.

    Syfte: Undersökningen granskar bankernas kreditbedömnings-och kreditbeviljningsprocess och hur dessa processer har påverkats efter avskaffandet av revisionsplikten, samt studera hur betydelsefull en auktoriserad revisor är för de mindre aktiebolagen.

    Metod: I syfte att besvara undersökningens frågeställning har studien använt sig utav ett kvalitativt tillvägagångssätt i form av semistrukturerade intervjuer med en deduktiv ansats. Undersökningen har genomförts genom att intervjua tre olika kontorschefer hos storbankerna samt utgått från vetenskapligt ramverk för att tolka den insamlade empirin.

    Slutsats: Ett transparent och seriöst företag kan dra nyttan av att bibehålla trovärdigheten för det redovisade resultatet i kombination med ett starkt förtroende mellan parterna. En objektiv värdering av affärsrelationen är således ett viktigt steg i kreditbeviljningsprocessen. Banken måste garantera att företagets finansiella uppgifter är korrekta. Resultaten tyder på att en väsentlig och tillförlitlig affärsrelation ger en betydande trygghet för banken, där revisorns betydelse är tongivande men inte den viktigaste beståndsdelen i alla situationer.

    Abstract [en]

    July 1, 2009 saw a government deregulation of pharmacies in Sweden, which meant that private operators were given access to this market. The pharmacy market had previously been entirely controlled by a state monopoly. The purpose of this report is to study how the running and governance of pharmacies has changed since this deregulation, both within the state’s own corporation and the privately owned pharmacies. Furthermore, we examine how this has influenced the roles of the different professional groups and their working conditions as compared to during the monopoly period. The study was conducted by using a qualitative method together with an abductive approach. The sample for the study included staff from twelve pharmacies in southern Stockholm in both state-owned and private pharmacies. The 16 participants in the interviews were presented with semi-structured questions. In order to arrive at relevant results, we have focused on theories such as New Public Management, Total Quality Management and Profession Theory, along with Bourdieu's theory and its key concepts. The results of the interviews were then analyzed on the basis of these theories, and the study shows that the deregulation of the pharmacy market has affected the content of the staff’s jobs, whether they work for the state corporation Apoteket AB, or for the privately owned pharmacies. The market today has become more competitive, which means that each pharmacy must work with continuous improvements in their service. Organization has undergone changes especially as concerns staffing levels, and the number of employees has decreased. Fewer people are working but they each have more responsibility, new tasks and a higher level of work-related stress. Some things that the pharmacy employees say in the study suggest that their work has become more statistically controlled, that they are obliged to follow profitability goals set by management and that new techniques of quality management in most organizations have consequences for the professional groups impacting upon their self-esteem and sense of professional identity.

    Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine and describe changes in depreciations. The purpose is also to examine if there has become effectsin the financial reports operating profit in conjunction with transitioning to using component depreciation.

    Methodology: This study applies a quantitative research.Figures from depreciation in the companies’ annual reports have been studied. The statistical test ”Wilcoxon signed-rank test for dependent populations” has been applied to this study.

    Conclusion:The introduction of component depreciation has led to differences in depreciation. It hasalso resulted in effects on the operatingresultwhere some of the companies had increased profits, while others had reduced operating profits.

    Att ha motiverade medarbetare på en arbetsplats är väsentligt. Motivation anses vara en central del i medarbetarnas arbetsprestation och ledaren har en roll att skapa förutsättningar som kan främja motivation i en arbetsplats. Syftet med uppsatsen är att undersöka och analysera vilka faktorer som motiverar medarbetarna, både från ledarnas och medarbetarnas perspektiv. Uppsatsen kommer även att undersöka vilka tillvägagångssätt en ledare använder för att skapa motivation bland medarbetarna.  

    I denna uppsats har en kvalitativ forskningsmetod använts i form av en fallstudie för att samla in empirin. För att få en helhetsbild av undersökningen har författarna utfört total sex intervjuer, varav hälften är ledare och hälften är medarbetare i PostNord Logistik.

    Studiens resultat visar att för medarbetarna är den största motivationsfaktorn arbetet i sig. Medarbetarna anser också att faktorer såsom uppmärksamhet, ekonomisk belöning, gemenskap, samt eget ansvar är motiverande. Ledarna anser dock att lönen kan vara den främsta motivationsfaktorn för medarbetarna.

    Resultat visar även att ledarna försöker finnas tillgängliga, vara förebilder, ge uppmärksamhet och skapa trivsel på arbetsplatsen för att motivera medarbetarna. Medarbetarna hade en gemensam åsikt när det gäller ledarnas tillgänglighet för att de ska känna sig motiverade.

    Background: Before digitization, it was increasingly difficult to reach new target groups. However, during the early 2000s, this changed when the web 2.0 emerged with the "dot-com" bubble. This paved the way for a new phenomenon, social media that is a way for users to share their views and thoughts. Using social media as a marketing strategy has contributed to an increasing number of companies being able to reach a wider audience. This has led to a new concept which is influencers, where they can influence their followers via their social media, which companies have started to use. By implementing this in their marketing strategies, it allows them to reach new target groups and markets. However, it can be difficult for the followers to decide what is genuine or not when marketing is via influencers.

    Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate how the relationship of the followers to influencers is affected by different collaborations between companies and influencers.

    Method: This study implements a qualitative research strategy where semi-structured interviews and observations have been applied to collect the empirical material. To get a variation in the result, 12 respondents of different ages and genders have been interviewed.

    Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it has proved important that an influencer shows authenticity, in order for the followers to trust them and that values should be consistent with the image they want to convey. The conclusions also show that previous relationships to an influencer and how often they make a collaboration can play a crucial role in how the followers receive it.

    Background: Even though the fashion industry has grown to become one of the most digitized and consumed industries in the world, it seems to be an issue for physical fashion companies to break through within ecommerce. This is due to the lack of ability for physical companies to adapt to the digital development and the changing customer behavior prevailing on the internet. E-commerce has gone from selling goods and comparing prices online, to provide valuecreating experiences for customers. As a result, the competition has drastically increased, which makes the customer able to easily move and choose between a variety of e-commerce platforms. As an increased understanding of customer experience in e-commerce can provide profit-sharing competitive advantages, it is important for physical fashion companies to take customer preferences into account.

    Purpose: The aim of this study is to generate an understanding of valuecreating activities in e-commerce and what customers value on ecommerce platforms.

    Methodology: This thesis is based on a qualitative research strategy with an abductive research approach. The empirical material has been collected by means of semi-structured interviews and observations with seven respondents in the ages between 19 and 40 years.

    Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it is necessary for fashion companies to maintain an utilitarian and hedonic approach to generate value-creating activities. The conclusions indicate that the utilitarian activities should be designed in a standardized manner, while the hedonic activities rather should keep an unique and distinctive approach.

    Abstract [en]

    Social media is today a large and important part of most people's everyday lives. The combination of the high user frequency, ready availability and cost efficiency makes social media an attractive marketing channel. Instagram is one of the largest players on the Swedish market and it is based on visual content. Because of the focus on visual content, Instagram is a more complex service to analyze and therefore research on this service is still limited.

    We have chosen to examine the service Instagram from a marketing perspective in order to identify which factors make individuals choose to follow and interact with companies on Instagram. This was done through a combination of quantitative- and qualitative data in the form of a questionnaire and semi-structured interviews. The study showed that it is common that individuals follow companies on Instagram but that they are selective regarding which companies they choose to follow. They need to gain some sort of value from the account in order to continue to follow and interact with the company on Instagram. For a company to be interesting to follow and interact with on Instagram it is required that the company meet a number of parameters which are presented in the study. Most common was a continually updated stream of visually appealing and inspiring images and videos. The study also shows that there is a majority who feel they have a better relationship with companies they follow on Instagram compared to the companies that they don’t follow on Instagram but do follow on other social media.

    Based on the conclusions of this study companies that are active on Instagram and therefore communicate mainly through visual content have a lot to gain. By using this study companies can develop a strategy to optimize their presence on the Instagram in order to get people to interact with them, to expand the knowledge of the company on the market, strengthen relationships and to increase the company's sales.

    Syfte: Syftet är att identifiera hur normbrytande reklam används som verktyg i företags marknadskommunikation. Som en del i syftet undersöks även vilka konsekvenser detta får för företag och dess kunder.

    Metod: För att uppfylla syftet genomfördes studien med en kvalitativ forskningsstrategi där fenomenologi tillämpades. Sju yrkesverksamma intervjupersoner inom reklambranschen valdes ut och intervjuades för att få en förståelse kring fenomenet normbrytning. Adaptiv metod och följande teorier: Konvergent marknadsföring, Linear model of communication , relationsmarknadsföring, multikulturell marknadsföring, marketing communication mix och kundbaserat varumärkesvärde.

    Slutsatser: Studiens slutsatser mynnade ut i att företag ser lönsamhet i form av försäljning, innovativa konkurrensfördelar och en förändring av normer i reklamvärlden och samhället. Företag når även en bredare målgrupp genom syftesdriven kommunikation som får mottagare att sprida kampanjer som berör de vidare. Vi kan också konstatera att normbrytande reklam idag används som ett verktyg för att komma närmare kunden och det som kommuniceras ut mot kunden ligger i grund i ett relationsskapande.

    Studiens syfte är att genom en kvantitativ innehållsanalys ge svar på vilka artikeltyper och nyhetssammanhang som oftast förekommer för judendom, kristendom och islam – de tre abrahamitiska religionerna – i tidningarna Svenska Dagbladet (SvD) och Sydsvenskan (SDS) för perioderna april 2002, oktober 2002 och motsvarande för 2012.

    För att nå ökad förståelse för resultatet av den kvantitativa innehållsanalysen har intervjuer genomförts med en ledarskribent från vardera tidning samt med en representant från vardera religion. De intervjuade har bland annat fått ge sin uppfattning kring hur religionsnyheter ser ut idag jämfört med tio år sedan.

    Den kvantitativa studien består av 283 analyserade artiklar, av vilka 118 behandlar islam, 109 kristendom och 56 judendom. Kristendom dominerar för inrikesnyheterna och islam för utrikesnyheterna. Inom de inrikesartiklar som berör islam dominerar sammanhanget diskriminering, medan kultur och antisemitism utmärkte kristendom respektive judendom. För samtliga religioner är de dominerande sammanhangen för utrikesartiklarna annat och krig eller konflikt. I båda kategorier dominerar islam. De största skillnaderna åren emellan är antalet artiklar om Israel-Palestina-konflikten samt förekomsten av artiklar som rör antisemitism.

    Analyserat utifrån tidigare forskning och nyhetsvärderingsteorier tyder resultatet på att religiösa händelser är svåra att göra nyheter av, varför religionerna, och då särskilt islam och judendom, ofta förekommer i konfliktcentrerade nyheter – något även många av de intervjuade håller med om.

    Abstract [en]

    Purpose: To create an understanding of how foreign students perceive the communication they receive from universities and colleges before and during exchanges with regard to cultural differences.

    Theory: The theoretical framework of this study is based on three different theories and prior research. The three theories are Shannon & Weaver’s (1963) The Linear Communication Model, Duncan & Moriarty’s (1998) The Scope of Marketing Communications and Hofstede et als (2011) cultural theories. Scientific articles on culture and communication were used to see how university communication is applied in practice.

    Method: The research has been conducted with a qualitative research with a deductive approach. Two focus groups took place in order to carry through with the research. These groups equally consisted of four participants each. The topics of the discussion amongst them were culture and communication. The participants are foreign students studying at Södertörn University College in Stockholm during the spring semester of 2016. The selection of participants was made with a convenience sample where contact was made through email invitations of participation in a focus group.

    Conclusion: The study has shown that all of the participating foreign students perceived the communication they had with the Swedish university as effective and informative. It was also clearly for them whom they could go to when help was needed in certain matters. Additionally, it was also shown that cultural differences have a moderate effect on the perception of the communication in the organizational culture of higher education.
