Analys av terroristdebatten i svenska riksdagen i samband med propositionerna 1973 och 20012007Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

This article focuses on the relationship between the Swedish labor unions and the Polish Independent Self-governing Trade Union "Solidarnosc" (Solidarity) during the 20th century. Several topics are discussed, such as how the Landsorganisationen i Sverige (LO), a Swedish labor union, and the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions international trade union supported the causes of the Solidarność from 1980 to 1981, how the LO supported the Solidarnosc because of their emphasis on self-determination, and how both Swedish and Polish historical sources do not present a clear enough picture of how much the efforts of the LO actually helped the Polish union.

Borgerlig fyrklöver intog Rosenbad: regeringsskiftet 19912011Collection (editor) (Other academic)
    Abstract [sv]

Vilka förändringar genomfördes under mandatperioden? På vilket sätt förbereddes själva regeringsskiftet?

1989 med svenska ögon: Vittnesseminarium 22 oktober 20092010Collection (editor) (Other academic)
    Abstract [sv]

Model or utopia?: The meidner plan and Sweden in Italy's political and trade unionist debate (1975-1984)2012In: Scandinavian Journal of History, ISSN 0346-8755, E-ISSN 1502-7716, Vol. 37, no 5, p. 646-666Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Between 1975 and 1983 the Swedish labour movement discussed a proposal to establish wage earner funds that would gradually shift the ownership in medium to large companies from employers to workers. This article starts by shedding light on the genesis of the proposal in the 1960s and 1970s and the reactions it provoked in Swedish society. Focus then switches to how the Meidner plan was understood in Italy in a time of pronounced social conflict marked, on one hand, by the redefinition of the relationship between trade unions and politics and, on the other hand, by soaring opposition among the various trade unions and the growing distance between the two major leftist parties. These divisions reverberated on the ways the wage earner funds-in their various versions-were understood by the organizations of the Italian labour movement; the assessment of the plan's feasibility and its applicability to the Italian case came to reflect conflicting views on industrial and economic democracy and on the relationship between Nordic social-democracies and Italian reformism.n.

    Abstract [en]

Learning from Sweden means learning to triumph - it seems that, at least from the German perspective, this could well be the gist of the perception of the Swedish school system as an ideal following the PISA study of 2000 as well as the motto under which Germans took educational trips into the Scandinavian country during the "after PISA" era. Following a comparative restrospective look on the reactions to PISA in both countries (1) and the characterization of the German image of Sweden (2), the idealized or transfigured image of Sweden commonly held in Germany is set against both the by no means unrestrictedly ideal realities of the Swedish school system on the basis of recent studies (3) and the findings from the PISA study and the IGLU study of 2006 with regard to the results achieved by Swedish boys and girls in the fields of reading competence (IGLU/PIRLS 2006) and of scientific competence (PISA 2006), in particular. Furthermore, current trends and developments in Swedish educational policy make it increasingly harder to project educational and pedagogical desiderata onto Sweden's edcuational system (4).

    Abstract [en]

Once known as the "English Disease," hooliganism (or spectator-related football violence) is now a routine feature in most European football leagues. In Sweden, the number of serious violent offences in conjunction with football matches has steadily continued to mount over the last four decades. Presently, one of the worst culprits is Djurgårdens Fina Grabbar - DFG (Djurgården's Fine Lads), the so-called "firm" (or hooligan group) associated with Djurgårdens Idrottsförening - DIF (Djurgården's Athletic Association). DIF's supporters have long looked to Britain for inspiration; and this tendency is very marked in DFG. Yet, in the past few years, a new Italian-inspired variety of hooliganism has likewise become more and more detectable in DFG's actions. This, in turn, has led to a new hybrid, that is neither wholly Italian nor British in character - though it has unquestionably created a more menacing version of Swedish hooliganism. This article accounts for this change in DFG while simultaneously exploring questions relating to the continued sanctity of local identities in the context of an increasingly globalized football culture. It additionally asks whether Swedish hooliganism should be understood as a response to the challenges facing traditional masculine identities in post-industrial societies like Sweden that also strongly emphasize gender equality.
