A standalone web app created with Wordpress, is it possible?: Development of a Web Application2016Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This paper aims to examine what the differences is between the three application types, native, hybrid and web. The main focus will be placed on the web app and investigate whether it could be an alternative to native and hybrid app. To explain what a web app has the capacity to do, a web app is created in wordpress. Web development is moving forward, which is obviously positive. The problem may be, however, for companies that come from a completely different industry and who wish to develop a new web solution for their company. A native app can be a very expensive investment and it is far from all companies that can pay this. This study wants to find out if a web app, could be an alternative to the native app. Furthermore, the report will examine what the possibilities are for a web app and what existing web apps there is today. Furthermore, a simple price comparison between the different app types to be made.

Tidningen Maskinentreprenören blir digital: En möjlighet till normkreativt tänkande i en digitaliseringsprocess2016Independent thesis Basic level (university diploma), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This report describes a practical exam work on creating a new website for the printed magazine Maskinentreprenören. The project resulted in detailed sketches for an online magazine designed for desktop, tablet and mobile. Theoretical frame work in the project are the concepts of usability, User Experience, design principles, theories of multi-channel publishing and norm critical design. A Design Thinking process has been applied during the project, where methods such as survey, interview, user test and personas were used to create an understanding of the users and the service to be developed. These methods have also been linked to a ”norm creative” practice. The purpose of this has been to understand the current users, but also understand the potential users that previously might have been excluded.

Aiducate.se: Hur man skapar en modern webbsida2015Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This report describes the creative process of the website aiducate.se, which purpose is to support, motivate and guide high school students in their education. The project was conducted independently without any employers and lasted for a period of ten weeks. The basis of the project was a prior study that showed a lack of motivation among high school students. A supplementary survey showed that the students wanted to modernize the education with contemporary teaching methods. As a complement to high school education, the innovation Aiducate was made which in the future will include various tools for the studies. Everything from how to write a report to how to get inspiration. Within the framework of this thesis a simpler beta version of the website was presented. This included a complete graphic profile, responsive design and some features such as a forum and user account. The report also follows the development of the website in the popular CMS tool WordPress. Theoretical background has anchored all final decisions for the website’s design and function, which also reconnects through user testing.

Från fixed till responsiv: Responsiv design av en statisk webbplats2015Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This report explains the approach for the making of a responsive design to the website Projects & Staff, a website that previously had a fixed design. The project consists of two parts, hi-fi prototypes created in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop as well as a complete mobile version of the website, created with CSS3. During the project I have designed for user experience and usability, two areas that are important to responsive web design. I have conducted a feasibility study in the form of a website analysis, made a PACT analysis and user interviews. This to define the needs that existed for a responsive design, and to get a clear picture of the users and their habits. The goal has been a responsive web design represented well on different devices, especially smartphones, a goal that I have done well with achieving.

    Abstract [en]

This report describes the process of developing a user-friendly and responsive archive website. The website is a Hi-fi prototype and was created for the company JG Communications, to serve as an archive for their customers’ style guidelines. To create this website I have used HTML5 and CSS3 to make it responsive for various computer screens. I have also used PHP and some JavaScript to make some of the functions and Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to make design elements for the prototype. The main purpose with this project was to come up with a design and most of all to come up with how the site should function. I have done user tests combined with interviews, content analysis on JG Communications website, and applied various design methods when building and designing the website.

    Abstract [en]

How can a company brand themselves and what may the effects of this be? How is a company perceived by a drastic change of image? This essay describes the creative process of a re-design of a website and the development of a presentation movie to see if the production company Ligistfilm can be perceived in a new way. From a black, dark and masculine website into a bright, modern and open-minded website along with a presentation film about Ligistfilm and their work, we will look into how the visitors perception of the company can change. The change of the website includes also a shift of focus. From being a website focusing on Ligistfilm as a company into a website focusing on their directors individually. User tests showed how Ligistfilm are perceived by the old website compared to the new one together with the presentation film.

Att utveckla en modern webbplats: Är responsiv design framtiden?2013Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The IT industry is constantly evolving and it's more or less a requirement today for web developers to be familiar with and to be able to develop for all platforms. A technique that has taken hold and is now widely used is responsive design. Developing responsive design means adapting the layout to the viewing environment; the screen size. Another useful method when developing for different devices is the mobile first theory, which means developing for the mobile screen first. This is done to scale down the site and to clear unnecessary information in order to provide a better user experience. In this work we have developed a new design for the site greenb.se, using the mobile first theory to create a responsive website.

Responsiv webbdesign: Design- och utvecklingsprocessen för skapandet av en responsiv webbsida2013Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This report describes the design and development process in building a responsive website. The website was created for the use of the intended game studio Rocket Lunches Studios. Wordpress has been used as a CMS (Content Management System) to simplify the updating of the website by the client themselves. The website is coded by thinking "mobile-first", which begins with the design focusing on smaller screens and then adapt the content on larger screen sizes. To make the design responsive the three components flexible grids, a flexible images / media and media query has been used, in addition to coding in HTML, CSS, PHP and JavaScript. The result of this report is a survey of the design and development process when building a responsive website. The practicality of the thesis resulted in a responsive prototype of a web page for a game studio.

    Abstract [en]

This paper reports a study in how a search service on the Internet can be completed either through a mobile application or through a responsive website, to facilitate use on a smartphone. The focus of the study is on the National Archives' search service National Archives Database (NAD), which is not currently adapted to mobile devices. Our aim is also to investigate how the attitude looks for applications and responsive websites among users and how these views differ between user groups.

Together with data from previous research, a study was conducted to examine the pros and cons between apps and responsive websites. In our investigations we have chosen to use two methods of data collection: a quantitative web survey and semi-structured qualitative interviews, to complement each other. A total of nine interviews were conducted with three members from each of National Archives' main target groups. An online survey has also been published on the National Archives and Stockholm stadsarkivs websites.
