This thesis will examine the judicial review of the Swedish institution Lagrådet and the German Constitutional Court, where we will determine and equate the differences and similarities between these institutions. This will be accomplished with various comparisons from a historical and constitutional perspective. Furthermore, this thesis will determine the differences and similarities by comparing these institutions powers and composition to answer the question of whether Sweden needs a constitutional court or if the judicial review Lagrådet performs is sufficient to ensure legal certainty and legitimacy in Swedish society and in the legal system. We will be able to formulate our stance regarding our thesis subject by analyzing the differences and similarities between Lagrådet and the German Constitutional Court
