Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study is to examine how teachers describes and explains the work with language strategies. The study is based on the following questions:

  • How do the teachers describe language strategy ability?
  • How do the teachers describe their work with language strategies?
  • In which ways do the teachers work with language strategies in the process of developing the pupil’s independence and activity?

The study was made by interviews with four teachers working in grade 1, 2 and 3. The study is based on Vygotskijs theory of social cultural perspective and  zone of proximal development, and Oxfords theory of language strategies learning.
