Abstract [sv]

Abstract [en]

This paper examines hotels in Stockholm to get a picture of how the hotel works with social media. There, the focus is both on the way the work behind is organized and how work is done in practice with their updates on social networks. Since social media is a relatively new phenomenon, we wanted to examine how the hotel industry in Stockholm handle this. To gain insight into this, we conducted qualitative interviews with those responsible for social media at six hotels in Stockholm and also quantitative data collection of their activity on social media to help in the analysis. Using a theoretical framework based on previous research, we were able to demonstrate a number of deficiencies in hotels where it was mostly a matter of its low priority among the hotels, it would require more resources and clearer guidelines and objectives from the management how the work should be done in practice.
