Abstract [en]

This article focuses on the relationship between the Swedish labor unions and the Polish Independent Self-governing Trade Union "Solidarnosc" (Solidarity) during the 20th century. Several topics are discussed, such as how the Landsorganisationen i Sverige (LO), a Swedish labor union, and the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions international trade union supported the causes of the Solidarność from 1980 to 1981, how the LO supported the Solidarnosc because of their emphasis on self-determination, and how both Swedish and Polish historical sources do not present a clear enough picture of how much the efforts of the LO actually helped the Polish union.
