Frihet och verklighet: En studie i Rudolf Steiners tidiga immanensfilosofi

Abstract [en]

The young Rudolf Steiner began a 15-year commitment to edit and comment on Goethe's scientific writings in 1882. He had studied Kant for years, but fully in line with Kant's later idealistic followers he saw no need of transcendent principles. Fichte, Schelling and Hegel, however, never developed a proper scientific foundation for knowledge itself. Steiner sees how our thinking perceives ideas in the same way as our eyes perceive colors. Ideas as well as sense-objects are both given within immanent reach to explain and account for the world. Our subjective knowledge basis is objectified successively by thinking, through merging sensory experience, as half a reality, with concepts and ideas as the other half. Is this approach akin to Aristotle’s induction procedure – epagōgē? Steiner says that we can raise our morals and behavioral motives by self-reflexive thinking. Epistemologically the creative thinking process produces concepts and ideas that can be united organically with a made observation. Ethically it’s the same, only that free moral ideas will be united with the corresponding observation in the future, when realized in life. The more spiritual our motives, the more free our actions.
