Abstract [en]

This study has investigated the company Martin & Servera Logistik AB returnable transport items out of a management control systems and supply chain management perspectives. The problem the company is experiencing is a huge number of losses in their returnable transport items. The findings in this research are that the company’s returnable transport items are either: lost, stolen, used by competitors, or recycled in metal recycling. Therefore, the solutions that are presented in this research is a better cybernetic control system and planning control systems could potentially lead to cost reduction and reductions in the losses of the company’s returnable transport items in the future. Our conclusion is that the company we studied uses control systems in accordance with "management control systems", however, tighter control of drivers and better communication with customers is required for more effective control. Likewise, they need to review a more favorable culture when it comes to external collaboration in outsourcing. A group whose sole job is to find and retake these returnable transport items, consisting of people with skills in conflict management, good negotiation skills and a legal expertise in the form of a lawyer. The problem has been going on for a long time and for that trend to reverse, personnel with the ability to adapt to the situation and understand the opponent better are needed.
