Vänsterpartiet, EU-positiva eller ej?: Analys av V:s attityd till den Europeiska Unionen

Abstract [en]

Vänsterpartiet has had a negative attitude to the European Union as long as Sweden has been a part of it. But last year, the party created question marks among the Swedish people as they staked their claim for a resignation from the Union, which has created many speculations about the reasons for this. This study intends to investigate whether there has been an Europeanization of Vänsterpartiet, where the focus is on whether Vänsterpartiets EU- policy regarding increased economic equality has changed since Sweden joined the EU and if so, how? The focus will also be on whether Vänsterpartiet has a future vision regarding regional European cooperation and if it does, what does it look like? This essay is a descriptive idea analysis, where the analysis model is based on Ladrech’s framework and the material has been used is Vänsterpartiets EU-election platforms from 1994 to 2019. The result shows that Vänsterpartiet has to some extent been Europeanized.
