The purpose of this study is to investigate team leaders’ and employees’ opinions about working from home and to question what motivates both team leaders and employees. In addition, the study intends to investigate how staff activity is controlled when work is performed at home. The study is based on a multiple case study with a comparative approach where two teams are compared; the Infra Team and the Support Team. The interviews were held with team leaders and employees from both teams. The study is based on an IT company in Sweden where the majority of the employees worked in the office before Covid-19, but are now required to work from home. The results from the interviews show a difference between the teams, where the Infra Team, which is more senior, has an easier time working from home whilst the employees in the Support Team experienced greater problems and a lack of contact with colleagues. Both teams have explained how important the team leaders’ commitment is for maintaining motivation. The team leaders aim to employ a policy of self-leadership and “freedom under responsibility”, though a lack of control is described by the employees.
