I den här studien studeras skolans fostrande roll av eleven i allmänhet och inom livskunskap i synnerhet. På en del skolor runt om i Sverige finns sedan ett antal år ett tämligen nytt ämne som heter just livskunskap. Initiativet kommer från skolorna själva och är vad man kallar en bottom-up rörelse. Plattformen för vår studie har varit olika läromedel i livskunskap och framförallt att närgranska ett läromedel som heter Livsviktigt. Livskunskap har ingen nationell kursplan och därför kan innehållet skifta från olika skolor och likaså omfattningen. Vi har lagt fokus i vår studie har legat på elevernas inre utveckling som ett motiv för en socialisationsprocess. Frågeställningen har bland annat varit vilken sorts elev det är som man vill skapa med livskunskap och vilka motiv so, ligger bakom. Vi kan se att det är två olika målsättningar som krockar i detta fostrande projekt: Dels ambitionen med den individuella utvecklingen av varje elev parallellt med formandet av en idealbild av den skötsamma, positiva och följsamma eleven baserad på en förhärskande normalitet.

In this study the part of the school in the governing of the students will be reviewed, especially from, the Knowledge of Life. In some schools in Sweden there has been a subject called: the Knowledge of Life for some years. It was the schools which came up with the idea and they took the initiative, which is why it is called a bottom-up movement. The platform for our study has been the textbooks for the subject Knowledge of Life, and we have chosen to work mainly with a textbook called Livsviktigt. Knowledge of Life has no national syllabus, and therefore the content of the course and the general concept may vary. In our study we have focused on the student’s inner emotional development as a reason for processes of socialisation. The questions have been what kind of a student the schools want to create with the Knowledge of Life and what the reasons might be. There are two different kinds of ambitions colliding in this governing project: It is the ambition of the individual growth of the student with a parallel of constructing of the model student as a well-behaved, positive and accommodating student. This is based on a generally accepted normality.
