A Sound Mind in a Sound Body : An ethnological study of discourses concerning health in relation to physical activity, diet and body types (English)
Abstract [en]

In our day to day lives, we use certain discourses when it comes to health in relation to physical activity, diet and body types. These discourses can be seen as being reflected in the media and this study compares newspapers from the 1930s to newspapers closer to the now in search of what those discourses are or were. The study aims to find similarities and differences in these discourses and to find cultural meaning in them. Along with the analysis of the contents of the newspapers there are two interviews to paint a fuller picture of meaning. The study concludes that even though there are shifts in the discourses, the overall meaning is quite similar between now and then.
