Syftet med denna vetenskapliga essä är att undersöka konstnärliga aspekter av undervisningen, hur de kan yttra sig och vilken betydelse de kan ha, samt vilka förutsättningar som behövs för att kunna utföra arbetet konstnärligt, där fokus ligger på begreppen autonomi och tid. Utgångspunkten är en gestaltning av en lärare, tillika facklig företrädares vardag. De teoretiska perspektiv som används för att tolka och förstå berättelsen utgörs i huvudsak av teorier inom den fenomenologiska traditionen, samt av skolforskning. För att ytterligare betona konstens betydelse görs även analogier med ett skönlitterärt verk. Slutsatserna av studien är inte bara att konstnärlighet förefaller kunna vara av vikt för undervisningen utan även att den kan kopplas till behovet av autonomi och professionell frihet. Förhoppningen är att uppsatsen kan bidra till förståelsen av läraryrkets komplexitet och av de förutsättningar som krävs för att lärare ska kunna verka och i förlängningen att elever, skola och hela samhället ska utvecklas på bästa sätt.     

The aim of this scientific essay is to examine artistic aspects of teaching; how they are  manifested, what their impact might be and in addition what the necessary conditions are to be able to teach artistically, focusing om autonomy and time. The starting point is a narrative from a teacher and union representative’s every day life. The theoretical framework used to interpret the story mainly consists of theories within the phenomenological tradition and of research in the educational field. To further emphasize the importance of art, analogies with a fictional work are made. The result of the study is not only that artistry might be of importance in teaching, but furthermore that it can be connected to the need of  autonomy and professional freedom. Hopefully, the essay can contribute to the understanding of the conplexity of the teacher profession and of the conditions needed for teachers to be able to perform and by extension for pupils, schools and the entire society to develop in the best possible way.
