Equine Cultures in Transition: Human-horse relationships in theory and practice
Abstract [en]
The aim of the conference Equine Cultures in Transition; Human-horse relationships in theory and practice: changing concepts of interaction and ethics is to bring together participants from a variety of perspectives in Equine Cultures. The conference is organised by Centre for Practical Knowledge at Södertörn University and will take place at the Royal Swedish Academy of Agriculture and Forestry, Stockholm, Sweden on October 27-29, 2016. The conference program includes three keynote lectures from top researchers in this area of research. In addition, there will be sixteen 45-minute discussion sessions, for which we have invited participants to submit proposals. These sessions will consist of presentations of work-in-progress or completed research, followed by a discussion. Presentations will be arranged around sub-themes like for instance theorising and academisation of human-horse relationships, interaction and ethics of human-horse relationships, horse views, horse-ologies and ideas of horse welfare, and theory of practical knowledge, reflection and articulation of practice and experience. The conference is arranged by the project Horse Cultures in Transition. Interaction and Ethics between Human and Horse in Sweden and Poland which is funded by the Foundation for Baltic and East European Studies.Conference web site is available on the link: http://www.sh.se/p3/ext/content.nsf/aget?openagent&key=sh_konferens_0_en_1442403736936
