Professionella samtal med barn i utsatta situationer: En kvalitativ studie om barnsamtal uitfrån socialsekreterarens perspektiv2017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The purpose of the study is to study social workers' experiences of communicating with children within the frame of child protection work. This includes the key factors that social workers experience in professional communication with children, how the conversations are designed and implemented, as well as the obstacles and opportunities that may arise in communication with children. The study is based on a qualitative approach, as the purpose of the study is to investigate the social worker's own experience and experiences of communication with children ´s. The empirical material of the study has been acquired through six semi structured interviews with qualified social worker in a children and family. The result shows that there are key aspects that play an important role in professional communication with children, one aspect was the importance of the circumstances and the environment of the conversation. The study shows that the social secretary uses different methods and tools in the implementation of child talks. The result identifies obstacles and opportunities in communication with children, an obstacle raised by social workers was situations where the child did not want to participate and an opportunity is a good conversation environment. Furthermore, the results of the study are discussed based on previous research and theoretical reference framework, which largely confirms what the social worker emphasized for the outcome of the study.

The Performance of the ’Interest Rate-Weapon’: A Study on the Long-Run Relationship between STIBOR T/N and the Inflation in Sweden2018Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This study uses an ARDL(p, q)-model to express a long-run relationship between ‘Stockholm Interbank Offered Rate Tomorrow/Next’ and the inflation in Sweden between 2007 and 2016 to see how efficient the ‘interest rate-weapon’ as a monetary policy-tool have been in affecting the inflation. The study shows that no such relationship can be expressed – hence the conclusion that the expectations of inflation are the most important variable affecting the inflation, and that the agents in the Swedish economy have rational expectations and a trust in the central bank of Sweden to reach its target of a 2 percent inflation rate.

    Abstract [en]

The economic crisis of 2007/2008 constitutes a moment of rupture not only for the financial markets, but also in terms of political engagement. In reaction to the crisis thousands took to the streets and squares in order to express their critique of the current political and economic system. The critical juncture also highlighted the role of media technologies for political organization and participation, which is reflected in comments on protests related to the financial crisis often over-emphasizing digital social media. This chapter provides an alternative way of engaging with crisis-related protest that moves beyond notions such as networked protests and connected action. Instead the chapter suggests reinvigorating more traditional methods of narrative analysis and critical hermeneutics in order to make sense of representations of protest mobilizations in reaction to the financial crisis. The financial crisis and protest that emerged in response serve as backdrop in order to further the theoretical argument about what role narrative mediation plays in the construction of social reality.

    Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study is to examine whether pedagogues, in their daily work with children with intellectual disabilities, have perceptions based on earlier work experience with for instance children with average intelligence and also if the perceptions, norms and categorizations of society affect the school environment in which children with intellectual disabilities exist. The study, which focuses on the pedagogues work experience of childrens with intellectual disabilities, was carried out by interviewing four pedagogues in a qualitative manner. The study was analyzed through the theoretical framework of social constructivism. Terms used in the study are: intellectual disability, inclusion, exclusion, integration, perception, categorization, normality, anomaly, norm criticism, power, the competent child and expectation. The results show that the pedagogues has his or her own perceptions about children with intellectual disabilities. The pedagogues’ own use of language affects how perceptions, norms and categorizations are conveyed to the pupils. They also points to their insufficient knowledge of intellectual disabilities. This lack of knowledge also affects how the pedagogues view the institutional striving towards student inclusion in a “school for everyone.” The study also shows that a norm critical perspective is preferable as it allows for perceptions, norms and categorizations to be made visible. The study showed that, in order to avoid unfavorable categorizations and norms, a communicative environment is needed in order to create an understanding in regards to the individual differences that exist between students in the school environment. This essay illuminates the fact that pedagogues – working with children with intellectual disabilities – are affected by the perceptions, norms and categorizations of society.

’’Vem är jag?’’: En kvalitativ studie om identitetskonstruktion och (o)tillhörighet i ett nytt land2017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The purpose of this study has been to investigate individuals who have moved to Sweden from Bosnia and Serbia and how they identify themselves, if migration has affected their views on their identity and how they define their sense of belonging to Sweden and their home country. The study is conducted through a qualitative content analysis that addresses possible differences between individuals who moved to Sweden in the 1990s and individuals who moved to Sweden in the 21st century. The theoretical framework consists of theory whichs links identity and belonging, theory of migration, theory of diaspora and a theory about Swedishness. What our empiricial evidence shows in the analysis is that there are two different types of identity, that differences exist in how to identify primarily because of the length of time found in Sweden and that individual experiences of opportunities and challenges encountered in the new society is the basis for how one relates oneself in relation to their identity and belonging.

Year)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

The Swedish artist Ulla Wiggen (b. 1942) started her artistic career in the early 1960s with detailed paintings of the insides of early electronic devices. In the early 2010s she turned to the interior of the body in the series Intra where organs and cells are fictionally combined. Here, she used a similar pictorial style as in the electronic paintings. This thesis seeks to analyze the relationships and tensions between body and machine that are found in Wiggen’s works. Questions are posed about the relationship between scientific and artistic imagery, as well as the role that fiction plays in knowledge-producing representation. This thesis looks to Wiggen’s use of the grid and connects it to historical and modernist images by showing its inherited paradoxical relation between rationality and spirituality. Through the anatomical picture, focusing on the Renaissance and Rationalism, this thesis explores the meanings of portraying bodies in cross-section. The role of the opened body has been oscillating between a body filled with spiritual meaning to a divided body, seen as an object for knowledge production. By using Donna Haraway’s figurations of the hybrid and the cyborg, the text proposes to re-think dualistic tensions between the human and the machine, science and fiction, realism and magic in Ulla Wiggen’s works. Through this perspective and post-humanist theory, it becomes clear that these boundaries have always been in flux. Instead of thinking either machines or bodies, the thesis suggests that we see the two series of Ulla Wiggen’s works as hybrid constructions that are both body-machines and machine-bodies.

Södertäljes förändrade medieekologi: En studie av Södertäljes mediestruktur samt Länstidningen Södertäljes innehåll 1997 och 20172017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

“Football Without Fans is Nothing”: En fallstudie om relationen mellan Djurgården Fotboll och dess supportrar2017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

This retroductive study aims to examine in what way paradoxes figure in contemporary political discourse, and what political effects arise therefrom. To this end, the study will address an extreme example – Swedish right-wing nationalism - which often is accused of being paradoxical; for example, when right-wing nationalistic discourse – often explicitly anti-feminist – begins to appropriate a feminist analysis in order to engage in contemporary political events. Such was the case when news of what happened in Cologne on New Year’s 2015/2016 reached Sweden. An important theoretical framework for this study is Michael Billig’s Ideological Dilemmas, and his theories on common sense and intellectual- versus lived ideology. According to Billig ‘doxa’ constitutes various contradictory values, and in this way, doxa is inherently paradoxical. Therefore, in order to understand and define the figure paradox, first we need to investigate how our own liberal doxa operate paradoxically, and what are both the rhetorical and political implications of the paradoxes constitutive of liberal common sense. The analysis of this study suggests that liberal discourse has, to a certain degree, facilitated the growth and effectiveness of right-wing nationalist discourse that has drawn on cultural differences as a permissible ground for a debate surrounding the future of western liberal principles and the defence of women’s rights.

    Abstract [en]

This essay tries to lay the transcendental foundations to a notion of “pure evil”, pure in the Kantian sense of the term, which means to find the necessary conditions for the concept and establish which criteria must be in place for such a concept to be justified. This essay tries to show the importance of thinking evil on its own terms instead as a secondary concept derived from ”the Good”. The prevailing philosophical stance from Platon until Kant has been to treat evil as either privation or unreason; this paper instead seeks to formulate a substantive notion of evil as pure evil, showing how it can be thought in its own right as an independent and self-sufficient concept. From a Kantian perspective it is only practical reason that can ground a moral action or maxim as free and self-determined, therefore a true concept of evil is only possible at level of the moral law i.e. the source of reason itself. Hence this paper argues that pure evil is intimately linked to the functioning of pure reason itself. In contrast to the traditional thinking regarding the issue of evil, I argue that reason is the sole source of pure evil and that no other factors such as pathology, affect or bad faith can account for events or actions that demonstrates the characteristics of pure evil. With help from the groundbreaking work of Kant, Arendt, Lacan and Sade I hope to point towards a new understanding of the concept of evil as a product of reason itself. Hopefully this work manages to show how and why such a perspective is needed and makes clear what we might gain from such an analysis.

Exploring the Phenomenology of Whiteness in a Swedish Preschool Class2018In: International Journal of Early Childhood, ISSN 0020-7187, E-ISSN 1878-4658, Vol. 50, no 1, p. 1-14Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

This article explores how constructions of identity, race and difference permeate and are challenged in a Swedish preschool class. The study is informed by theories of phenomenology and critical whiteness. Data are drawn from a larger ethnographic study conducted in an ethnically diverse preschool. The purpose of the study was to explore how preschool teachers manage and reflect upon the construction of children’s social identity within the institution of a preschool. This report considers one incident relating to racial identity. It began with a child’s representation, the boy named Stanley, in a self-portrait: ‘I want to be white and blonde when I grow up… I want to be like Oscar, not a black boy’. Within this article we consider teachers’ reflections on this incident, discussing how ‘whiteness’ is performed, constructed and interrogated by young children and adults in the preschool and uncovering a certain institutional ‘colour blindness’. In this example ‘race’ announces itself and the children make it visible as an existing category in their everyday life. Children’s drawings and narratives reveal much about the implicit understandings and norms that surround them, pointing to teachers’ responsibilities for exploring the possibilities and limitations offered in preschool education to deal with these understandings.

Som ett hjärtbyte utan facit: Baksidan av personaloptioner2017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

During 2016 many articles regarding problems that innovative companies have with employee stock options were published. The entrepreneurs were neither happy about the taxes nor the ”investigation” ordered by the government. Recently stated companies (start-ups) have problems with the amount of capital and with finding people with the right competence, these two problems could be solved by using employee stock options since it attracts employees to stay within the companies. Through this study have the possibility of improvements within the area of incentive programs in Sweden and especially employee stock options been investigated. Questions regarding how the problems with employee stock options appear and what the entrepreneurs think are possible solutions. The purpose is to create a picture of difficulties and possibilities regarding employee stock options according to entrepreneurs in Swedish start-ups. The method chosen for answering the questions became interviews by telephone. The ones being interviewed were only CEOs from Swedish innovative companies with less then 50 employees and less then 70 million SEK in revenue. The theories used to analyse the answers given on the questions in the interviews were theories about options, agent-principal relation and contracts, reward systems, valuation of stock options, risks, laws, taxation and the previous study ordered by the Swedish government. The conclusion from this study is that Swedish entrepreneurs see problems when it comes to entering employee stock options and the taxation. The risk that they fear is if they have not done it correctly. To solve this problems they believe a guide on how to do it correct with simplified explanations that contains guidelines, the laws that needs to be followed and some theories that help them to the right time and values. Lower taxation is welcomed but is far from the most important thing to fix according to the entrepreneurs.

Paul Gauguin och den koloniala blicken: En receptionsanalys av Paul Gauguins konst i Sverige år 1926 och 19702017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This study is about the reception of Paul Gauguin’s art in Sweden in 1926 and 1970. I chose these dates because of the exhibitions displaying Gauguin’s art in Stockholm then, as it is the reception in Sweden I’m concerned with. The reception will be examined by studying relevant material as exhibition catalogues and newspaper articles. The study starts with a biography on Gauguin’s life to provide relevant background information. Then, a semiotic analysis of the painting Manao tupapau (1892) that Gauguin painted during his first stay on Tahiti (1891-1893). I feel that this paining really represents the imperial gaze Gauguin used to view and portrait the local population on Tahiti with. Throughout my study I use postcolonial theory in my analysis and I also draw parallels between Gauguin’s art and the racial photography of indigenous populations that Åsa Bharathi Larsson writes about. I feel that the production of photos have a lot in common with the production of Gauguin’s art and the result also shows that this racial photography helped establish the imperial gaze that the Swedish art critics later viewed Gauguin’s art with, especially in 1926. In 1970, the gaze had evolved and Gauguin’s lifestyle was criticized. Still, In spite of this critic, Gauguin’s art can still be exposed today (2017-18), without any mentioning of the circumstances under it was made, nor its exotifying traits.

"Verkligheten, som obarmhärtigt bröt ned hans konstruktioner”: En studie av Henry Parlands roman Sönder.2017Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (One Year)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

In this thesis the aim is to examine how objects matter with regards to orientation in the work To Pieces written by the Finnish author Henry Parland. The question posed by Sara Ahmed in Queer Phenomenology becomes the starting point of this work. The aim of returning to this question is to accentuate the role of objects in the process of orientation. More specifically how the things themselves make up the life-world, which can be described as a “coherency of things”. When the lifeworld and the subject is aligned the world is familiar and open. It becomes a world that lets the subject in question extend itself and act as it intends. When the orientation fails, the subject becomes disorientated, the world falls apart. The things are used as tools to extend the subject in its world. But things are not mere tools for the subject to extend itself with. The things can be seen as having agency, something that is examined through the theory of agential realism by Karen Barad. Here the agency of matter is examined in such a way that the binary opposition of subject-object is questioned. Instead Barad suggest that we return to the matter itself and examine how it intra-acts in such a way that the boundaries and entities are formed within the so-called phenomena. Together these two theories are put to work in the novel To Pieces which becomes a place for them to join together by showing how orientation is formed reciprocally in the subject-object discourse. The novel is full of human intra-action with things, be it mirrors, photografies, cigarettes, hats, or other humans who are reduced to objects. From here the things themselves set in motion a kind of revolution, which questions the anthropocentric order.

    Abstract [sv]

Både - och: tvetydighet och ironi i Begrebet Angest2011Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This thesis is an investigation into ambiguity and irony in Kierkegaard’s The Concept of Dread [Begrebet Angest]. The frequent ambiguities in Kierkegaard’s texts have been discussed by several scholars, and Kierkegaard’s interest in irony is evident not only from his master’s thesis On the Concept of Irony, but also from his other texts. The irony in Kierkegaard has especially been expounded on by Roger Poole and Jacob Bøggild, who both consider irony to be at the heart of Kierkegaardian writing. Furthermore, the ambiguity in Kierkegaard can also be considered typical for the existentialist line of philosophy in general. Finally, both of these subjects tie in to the difficult subject of Kierkegaard’s ”indirect communication”, a subject discussed at length by Poole.

The investigation falls into three parts. The first part is essentially a preparation: the concepts of ambiguity and irony are introduced, as is their relation to each other, and the discussion of these pertaining to Kierkegaard is paraphrased. An introduction to Kierkegaard’s indirect communicationis also provided.

The second part constitutes the main body of the thesis. This part consists of a reading of The Concept of Dread with special attention brought to the ambiguities of this text. These ambiguities are numerous and in most cases fundamental concepts in the book’s line of reason including things such as dread itself, sin, guilt and the demonic. This reading follows the basic layout of the book itself, interspersed with remarks and topics discussed by other scholars, notably Jonna Hjertström Lappalainen and Gordon Daniel Marino. At the end of this part, the ironic readings of Poole and Bøggild are discussed in relation to the more “direct” reading proposed previously. Such readings put even greater emphasis on the ambiguity, as the text in its entirety is ambiguous.

The third part is a tentative discussion of the conflicting accounts of Bøggild, Poole and Hjertström Lappalainen, and an attempt at reconciling these into a coherent view of The Concept of Dread. It is argued that ambiguity, while not equatable with indirect communication, is nonetheless a necessary prerequisite for communicating without compromising the individual’s subjective and concrete experience of the human condition. Finally, the Kierkegaardian notion of absolute freedom as discussed by Hjertström Lappalainen is considered in relation to the “existential concepts” fundamental to existentialist philosophy and, once again, the necessity of ambiguity is shown. The task of the ambiguous or ironic text is then to communicate the subjective, that which cannot be grasped in language, making necessary a certain “emptiness” or openness with regards to the central concepts.

Häng med! Konsten att orientera sig i det svenska informationssamhället: En kvalitativ studie om hur digitala informationsmedel tas emot av nyanlända eritreaner i Botkyrka kommun2017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

Auktoritet i idyllen: Maskuliniteter i Carl Larssons fadersgestalt2017Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This thesis investigates representations of masculinities and the father figure in the Swedish painter Carl Larsson’s (1864-1919) self-portraits from 1895. The paintings are analysed through the concepts authority, a term closely connected to the father figure, and idyll, a term often used to describe Larsson’s art. Sara Ahmed’s theory to see beyond what is taken for granted, in Queer Phenomenology, is theoretical starting point for the thesis. The analytical method is adopted from Tamar Garb’s Bodies of Modernity. Figures and Flesh in Fin-de-Siécle France. The conclusion is that the masculinities in Larssons’s father figure are coherent with the paterfamilias in the late 1900s, consisting of the provider, the authority figure, and the husband/lover. Furthermore, that the idyll is constructed by those with the authority to construct it, and that the authority thereby is defined by the idyll it constructs.

Digital teknik som preventivmedel: En studie av kvinnornas upplevelse av Natural Cycles2017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

This paper aims to investigate women’s experience of digital technology as a contraceptive. Research on the female body has not always been a natural part of human– computer interaction (HCI) research but is beginning to be seen through various aids in menstruation, pregnancy and likewise (Balaam, 2017). In 2017, a mobile application was approved as a contraceptive in Sweden and by that, digital technology took a step into the industry of contraceptives (Suni, 2017). The product is made by the company Natural Cycles, which therefore has become the natural focus of this paper. This study was created to find out how women experience the first fully technological contraceptive, focusing on trust through interfaces and experience design. To answer the purpose of the study, a questionnaire was created and a focus group interview was held, where one of the participants was asked to write a diary for one week to document her feelings and thoughts about her use of Natural Cycles. The results from the survey showed that about half of the respondents trust Natural Cycles and may be interested in trying the product. The other half says that they do not trust the products safety. The results from involved a simple interface and good marketing with a lot of information about statistics. The answers also showed that those who didn’t trust digital technology as contraceptives lacked truthful information about studies and use.

Konsumenters syn på trovärdighet och användbarhet av reklam på sociala medier2017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

Social media is a phenomenon that has expanded fast during the recent years and has become a part of people’s everyday lives. Social media has developed to not only deal with updating others about what is happening and uploading pictures. Today social media plays a big part in marketing. Therefore advertising is not only exposed in traditional media such as; TV, radio and newspapers, but also on the internet and the social media platforms. Advertising on social media appears in different forms; sponsored posts (paid ads), User Generated Content (non-paid ads) and Electronic-Word-of-Mouth. These different forms of advertising on social media are experienced differently by consumers and therefore this study aims to gain an understanding to which extent consumers find different forms of advertising on social media credible and useful. A qualitative method has been used for this study. For the collecting of data semi-structured interviews have been conducted. This study has been divided into three themes, namely; advertising on social media, attitude of consumers and perceived credibility and usefulness. It turned out that consumers experienced User Generated Content as the most credible form of advertising on social media. Sponsored posts were seen as the most useful, since this form of advertising was perceived as inspiring and informative.

Collective action and agency in Baltic Sea marine spatial planning: Transnational policy coordination in the promotion of regional coherence2018In: Marine Policy, ISSN 0308-597X, E-ISSN 1872-9460, Vol. 92, p. 138-147Article in journal (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

Despite the increasing attention given to marine spatial planning and the widely acknowledged need for transnational policy coordination, regional coherence has not yet improved a great deal in the Baltic Sea region. Therefore, the main objectives in this article are: (a) to map existing governance structures at all levels that influence how domestic marine spatial planning policy strategies are formed, (b) to identify specific challenges to improved regional cooperation and coordination, and (c) to discuss possible remedies. Based on data from in-depth case studies carried out in the BONUS BALTSPACE research project, it is shown that, despite the shared goal of sustainability and efficient resource use in relevant EU Directives, action plans and other policy instruments, domestic plans are emerging in diverse ways, mainly reflecting varying domestic administrative structures, sectoral interests, political prioritisations, and handling of potentially conflicting policy objectives. A fruitful distinction can be made between, on the one hand, regulatory institutions and structures above the state level where decision-making mechanisms are typically grounded in consensual regimes and, on the other hand, bilateral, issue-specific collaboration, typically between adjacent countries. It is argued that, to improve overall marine spatial planning governance, these two governance components need to be brought together to improve consistency between regional alignment and to enhance opportunities for countries to collaborate at lower levels. Issue-specific transnational working groups or workshops can be one way to identify and act upon such potential synergies.

Believability assessment model: En modell för att mäta trovärdighet i berättelsedrivna spel2017Independent thesis Basic level (degree of Bachelor), 10 credits / 15 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [en]

An essential part of the video game experience are the characters. How the characters are perceived as believable can make or break the immersion of the experience. This paper aims to create a model which can be used as a tool for analysis, designed to measure believability in video game characters. For consistency, we first define the term believability. Using thematic analysis, we aim to evaluate what components are relevant in the design process of a new model. This is achieved by studying three characters from japanese role playing games using two existing models to measure believability in artificial agents, as this hasn't been done in this context in the past.

The results show that relevant components in existing models does indeed exist, but they lack some components mirroring feelings and personal development in characters from japanese role playing games. In addition to this, problems arising from the categorization of characters in models designed to measure believability is discovered. Two versions of the new model are presented, one designed to measure characters from various genres, and one designed to specifically measure characters from japanese role playing games. A different approach to categorize video game characters is also presented in the latter version of the new model.

Den oformliga textens röst: Om läsakten i skrivprocessen2018Independent thesis Advanced level (degree of Master (Two Years)), 20 credits / 30 HE creditsStudent thesis
    Abstract [sv]

    Abstract [en]

Problem: The risk of online shopping differs from consumer to consumer. Previous scienceshow that consumers experience a higher risk related to online shopping, compared topurchase in traditional stores. The reason behind this is that there is no possibility to physically inspect the product before the purchase is completed, and most people want to try and feel the clothes before they decide to buy it. Also there is no opportunity to create an opinion about the seller, since there is no physical interaction between the customer and the ecommerce, which creates difficulty in assessing whether it is a reliable seller or not. An actionto reduce the consumers perceived risk is by creating a trustworthy impression.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate consumers perceive risks related buy ingclothes online, and if confidence in the e-commerce affects the risk level.

Method: The research method for this study was qualitative, with a deductive approach. Data collection was developed through eight semi- structured interviews, in which participant werechosen from a convenience selection from the Stockholm area. Focusing on individuals between the age of 20- 45.

Result: The study found that consumers who purchase clothes more often experience a lower risk related to online shopping, compared to those who do it rarely. The two distinct risks that respondents experienced in online shopping were the risk related to the clothes and the financial transaction. Results also showed that trust towards e-commerce has a decisive impact on the degree of risk, and how confident a consumer feels ahead of buying clothes online. It was found that the most effective trust-creating approach was contently information about the clothes, and several payment options. Additionally the results shows that consumers reduce the perceived risk level of online purchase through viral marketing, which is word-of mouth.

Explorations in Ethnography, Language and Communication: Capturing Linguistic and Cultural Diversities2018Collection (editor) (Refereed)
    Abstract [en]

The term linguistic ethnography was introduced at the beginning of the millennium to describe a large number of studies that made use of ethnographic methods of data collection and analysis to talk about context when studying language use, practices and ideologies.

The six chapters in this edited collection were among the forty papers presented in the Sixth Conference on Explorations in Ethnography, Language and Communication, at Södertörn University in 2016 and they all have a focus on methodology. A preface is included written by Karin Tusting, convenor of the Linguistic Ethnography Forum at Lancaster University.

This volume is the seventh edition, and first to include contributions written in English, in the Södertörn Discourse Studies series (Text- och samtalsstudier) from Södertörn University.

Hennes snilles styrka: Kvinnliga grosshandlare i Stockholm och Åbo 1750–18202018 (ed. 1)Book (Refereed)
